📋 Description
- • Own end-to-end technical discovery and customized demos for enterprise and mid-market prospects, mapping their billing, payment, and ERP systems to Numeral’s tax automation platform to demonstrate clear value in their specific environment.
- • Architect detailed integration plans for complex tax implementations, including system diagrams, data-flow mappings, effort estimates, and success criteria across pre-built integrations, APIs, and manual workflows.
- • Build and quality-gate Technical Mutual Action Plans (TMAPs) as the technical sign-off for high-value deals involving Stripe, NetSuite, custom APIs, and non-Shopify tax engine implementations before deal commitment.
- • Lead technical evaluations by addressing live objections, driving RFP responses, conducting security reviews, and executing light proofs-of-concept or pilot implementations to unblock and advance deals.
- • Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal Product and Engineering teams, translating field feedback into product roadmap priorities, integration needs, and feature enhancements.
- • Enable the GTM team by training Account Executives and SDRs on nexus rules, integration workflows, and product capabilities; conduct office hours to reduce dependency on Product/R&D for customer calls.
- • Create and maintain scalable customer-facing assets including demo environments, integration guides, SOPs, and documentation to standardize processes and improve team efficiency across the sales cycle.
- • Collaborate directly with Account Executives on the most complex and highest-revenue deals, ensuring technical alignment between customer architecture and Numeral’s solution to eliminate surprises before onboarding.
- • Translate technical concepts for finance leaders and engage deeply with developers in the same conversation, adapting communication style to both non-technical buyers and technical stakeholders.
- • Build processes and playbooks from scratch as a founding member of the Solutions Engineering team, shaping how the function scales with the company’s rapid growth.
- • Maintain deep familiarity with customer data architectures, including how stores, APIs, and entities interact to ensure accurate tax calculation and nexus determination across 47 U.S. states and 70+ countries.
- • Demonstrate customer obsession by proactively identifying friction points in the sales and onboarding process and advocating for solutions that improve user experience and time-to-value.
- • Continuously learn and master new integrations, tax regulations, and industry-specific workflows across Numeral’s key verticals: e-commerce, SaaS, manufacturing, and wholesale/distribution.
- • Contribute to product development by bringing real-world customer use cases, pain points, and feature requests directly into product prioritization cycles.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or comparable customer-facing technical role, ideally selling into enterprise and mid-market.
- • Hands-on technical depth with REST APIs, webhooks, and data flows between systems; programming experience in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or similar languages is a strong plus.
- • Proven ability to speak credibly to both engineering teams and finance leaders, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical buyers while engaging deeply with developers.
- • Exceptional documentation and organizational skills with a track record of building scalable processes, demo environments, and SOPs from scratch.
