📋 Description

• Serve as the primary technical expert during pre-sales engagements, partnering with Account Executives to understand customer requirements around authorization, performance SLOs, consistency needs, and software architecture.
• Design and deliver live permissions schema demonstrations using SpiceDB, tailoring solutions to align with prospect-specific use cases and technical constraints.
• Build and execute Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate AuthZed’s capabilities against customer environments, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
• Conduct virtual and in-person product demos and deep-dive technical sessions for stakeholders ranging from engineers to executive leadership.
• Identify and document product gaps observed during customer interactions, and communicate these insights directly to the product team to influence roadmap priorities.
• Develop, refine, and maintain dynamic customer-facing demos that showcase AuthZed’s authorization platform in real-world scenarios.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during evaluations and PoCs to ensure seamless customer experiences and successful technical wins.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and sales teams to translate customer technical needs into actionable feedback for product improvements.
• Support the qualification of opportunities by assessing technical readiness, architecture compatibility, and scalability requirements of prospect environments.
• Engage with prospects to understand their existing authorization systems, identify pain points in permission management, and position AuthZed as a scalable, enterprise-grade solution.
• Create technical documentation and guides to support customer onboarding, internal training, and sales enablement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends in authorization, distributed systems, and access control to enhance credibility and solution design effectiveness.
• Represent AuthZed at industry events, webinars, and technical forums to strengthen market presence and drive awareness of SpiceDB.
• Adapt quickly to evolving customer requirements and emerging technologies, demonstrating agility in learning new systems and integrating them into customer solutions.
• Leverage CRM tools to track engagement metrics, customer feedback, and technical outcomes throughout the sales cycle.
• Travel up to 3–4 days per month domestically to meet customers onsite or attend internal team offsites.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a solutions engineering role or similar technical customer-facing position
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a relevant field (or directly related work experience in lieu of degree)
• Working proficiency in a modern backend language (Go, Python, Java, or Node.js)
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres)
• Proficient in designing and deploying solutions in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and managing Kubernetes clusters
• Experience integrating against APIs, including handling streams and pagination
• Strong ability to diagnose complex technical issues, communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, and align solutions with customer requirements
• Proven track record of conducting demos, training sessions, and technical presentations to stakeholders of varying technical levels
• Comfort with ambiguous, rapidly changing requirements and a rapid ability to learn new technical concepts
