Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Embark on a unique and engaging opportunity to shape the future of Artificial Intelligence in mechanical design by joining Handshake Technologies, Inc. as a SolveSpace Specialist - AI Trainer. This role is not a conventional full-time position but rather a flexible, hourly contract engagement designed for experienced SolveSpace users who possess a deep understanding of geometric constraint modeling, mechanism design, or parametric 3D CAD. Your expertise will be instrumental in a groundbreaking AI research initiative aimed at enhancing AI's comprehension of intricate mechanical design tasks and engineering workflows.
  • • As an AI Trainer, you will leverage your practical, hands-on experience with SolveSpace to critically evaluate AI-generated content. This involves meticulously reviewing AI outputs for accuracy, relevance, and adherence to real-world engineering principles. You will be tasked with formulating insightful tool-related questions that probe the AI's understanding and providing detailed feedback that directly influences the AI's learning trajectory. This feedback loop is crucial for training AI models to better interpret and generate mechanical designs, understand kinematic analyses, and navigate complex assembly workflows.
  • • This project-based opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking to supplement their current professional activities or freelance work with meaningful, impactful contributions. It offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to contribute on an as-needed basis without a minimum hour commitment. The Handshake AI program operates year-round, ensuring a continuous stream of potential projects across various specialized areas of mechanical engineering and CAD.
  • • Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • • Critically assessing AI-generated responses related to SolveSpace functionalities, geometric constraint solving, and parametric modeling.
  • • Developing targeted questions to test the AI's knowledge and application of mechanical design principles.
  • • Providing clear, concise, and actionable feedback on the accuracy, completeness, and practical applicability of AI-generated designs and explanations.
  • • Annotating or labeling CAD models and engineering drawings to guide AI development.
  • • Reviewing mechanical designs for accuracy, performance characteristics, and design consistency, identifying potential flaws or areas for improvement.
  • • Collaborating asynchronously with the Handshake team to understand project requirements and feedback guidelines.
  • • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail in all review and feedback processes.
  • • Adhering strictly to written guidelines and protocols to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • • This role is perfectly suited for professionals who have experience in or adjacent to fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechanism Design Engineering, Robotics Engineering, R&D Engineering, Kinematics Research, or CAD Design. A strong foundation in geometric constraint modeling, mechanism design, or parametric 3D CAD using SolveSpace is paramount. Familiarity with robotics CAD, kinematic analysis, or mechanical assembly workflows will significantly enhance your contribution. Experience in annotating or labeling CAD models and engineering drawings, or in reviewing mechanical designs for accuracy and consistency, is highly valued.
  • • No prior AI or specialized technical training experience is required. Handshake Technologies believes that your existing domain expertise in SolveSpace and mechanical design is the core asset. The company provides the framework and the AI models for you to train. This is a chance to be at the forefront of AI development in a specialized engineering domain, directly influencing how AI interacts with and assists human engineers in the future. Your insights will help bridge the gap between theoretical AI capabilities and practical, real-world engineering challenges, making complex design tasks more accessible and efficient.
  • • The work is fully remote, offering the freedom to contribute from anywhere within the United States, provided you have a reliable internet connection and a functional desktop or laptop computer. The schedule is entirely flexible and asynchronous, meaning you can work around your existing commitments. While there's no minimum hour requirement, many contributors find themselves working approximately 5–20 hours per week when actively engaged in a project. This ongoing, project-based engagement provides a consistent avenue for earning income while contributing to cutting-edge AI research.
