• As a SQL Database Server Manager, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and strategic development of our SQL Server infrastructure. Your responsibilities will span across installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and robust backup and recovery strategies. You will be the go-to expert for all things SQL Server, ensuring seamless database operations that underpin our clients' business-critical applications.
• You will proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability. This includes regular performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to anticipate future needs and prevent potential issues. Your insights will be crucial in maintaining high availability and ensuring our databases can handle increasing workloads.
• A significant aspect of your role will involve ensuring the security and integrity of our data. You will implement and manage security best practices, including access control, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability assessments. Working within a secure Microsoft Azure environment, you will adhere to strict compliance and regulatory requirements, safeguarding sensitive client information.
• You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive backup and disaster recovery solutions. • Security management will involve implementing role-based access control, managing logins and users, auditing database activities, and applying security patches and updates promptly. You will also be involved in data encryption strategies, both at rest and in transit.
• You will develop and maintain robust ETL processes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for reporting and analytical purposes. Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is highly desirable.
• Documentation is a crucial part of the role. You will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, standards, and troubleshooting guides, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational consistency.
• You will participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical database incidents, demonstrating your commitment to service reliability.
• Engage with clients to understand their database requirements, provide technical consultations, and present solutions that meet their specific business needs. Building trust and rapport with clients through technical expertise and clear communication is paramount.
• Contribute to pre-sales activities by providing technical input on database solutions for proposals and client pitches, showcasing Methods' capabilities in database management.
• You will be a key player in ensuring the successful migration of databases to Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance, leveraging your expertise in cloud database services.
• Proactively identify opportunities for automation of routine tasks using scripting and other tools to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of human error.
• Ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations, such as GDPR, by implementing appropriate controls and audit trails.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of database monitoring tools, setting up alerts and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into database health and performance.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge on best practices in SQL Server and Azure database management.
• Manage and maintain database security configurations, including firewalls, network security groups, and private endpoints within the Azure environment.
• You will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of SQL Server databases, from initial deployment and configuration to ongoing maintenance, performance optimization, and eventual decommissioning.
• This role requires a proactive and results-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a collaborative team, driving excellence in database management.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, with a strong focus on managing SQL Server in a Microsoft Azure environment.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and related Azure services (e.g., Azure Networking, Azure Security Center).
• Proficiency in T-SQL scripting and PowerShell for automation and administration.
• Solid understanding of database security principles, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
