📋 Description

  • As a Sr. Accountant at Avantor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of a leading global provider of mission-critical products and services. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your technical accounting expertise, leadership potential, and commitment to excellence within a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will be instrumental in building robust financial processes, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact the company's strategic objectives and global performance.
  • Your responsibilities will span a wide range of critical accounting functions, including supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. You will be deeply involved in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, actively participating in control implementation, testing, and remediation efforts. A significant aspect of this role involves managing fixed asset accounting, encompassing the entire lifecycle from acquisition and classification to depreciation and disposal, and partnering closely with the Engineering department on capital project accounting, including budget tracking, asset under construction (AUC) management, and capitalization requests.
  • You will be responsible for preparing accurate journal entries, performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations, validating subsystem accuracy, and conducting thorough variance analysis. Your ability to investigate and provide feedback on financial irregularities will be crucial in maintaining high standards of financial reporting. Furthermore, you will contribute to tax filings, such as sales and use tax, and play an active role in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing both accuracy and efficiency across the accounting function.
  • This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to validate the accuracy of your work product and uphold the highest quality standards in all your deliverables. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with various internal stakeholders, including FP&A and cross-functional teams, to provide insightful financial reports, including profit/loss projections, and present findings to internal leaders. Your contributions will directly influence strategic business decisions and support the growth of our global enterprise.
  • Avantor fosters a culture where your insights and leadership are valued. As a Sr. Accountant, you will have the opportunity to elevate your technical accounting skills, deepen your expertise in SOX compliance, and potentially expand into leadership roles. The company is committed to supporting professional growth at every stage, offering a clear path for career advancement. You will have the chance to lead through influence, mentoring and coaching colleagues, thereby improving team performance and strengthening overall financial operations.
  • The ideal candidate will thrive in an inclusive and collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives and promotes a sense of belonging. You will leverage modern tools and systems, including SAP and other ERP systems, to their strategic advantage, participating in system optimization and internal control strengthening. Your ability to drive process improvements by identifying gaps and implementing effective workflows will be highly valued, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • This position is designed for individuals who possess a strong blend of technical acumen, operational awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams. You will be a key player in maintaining the financial health of Avantor, a company dedicated to advancing life-changing science. Your work will contribute to bringing new patient treatments and therapies to market, enabling life-saving medical devices, and ultimately, creating a better world. Embrace the opportunity to dare to go further in your career with Avantor.
