📋 Description

• As Sr. Engineering Manager, SRE at Abridge AI, Inc., you will lead the company-wide reliability, performance, and security engineering efforts during a period of rapid hyperscale growth driven by expanding customer bases and new AI-powered healthcare product launches. This role is critical to ensuring the uptime, scalability, and trustworthiness of Abridge’s generative AI platform that transforms real-time patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes with deep EMR integrations.
• You will scope, resource, evangelize, and execute a company-wide reliability and engineering velocity roadmap across multi-cloud and multi-region environments, including real-time streaming infrastructure, AI-at-edge systems, and the most ambitious cloud security initiatives in the tech industry. You will collaborate with product engineering, security, product management, and commercial teams to align on strategic priorities and drive execution.
• You will act as a gifted tactician, working closely with small tiger teams to unblock complex challenges, drive solutioning, and enable execution without needing to code yourself—focusing instead on removing impediments, fostering creativity, and managing multiple ambiguous, high-stakes problems simultaneously.
• You will serve as a recruiter extraordinaire, scaling your team of individual contributors and managers by attracting top talent, maintaining a high hiring bar, improving diversity and equity, iterating on hiring processes, and retaining and maximizing the effectiveness of an extremely senior engineering workforce.
• You will mentor the mentors by developing career growth opportunities for senior engineers and engineering leaders, creating top-of-ladder development paths, raising the bar for technical and leadership excellence, and fostering a de-siloed, hivemind culture built on trust, empathy, and shared ownership.
• You will help establish Abridge as a thought leader in platform reliability and SRE by representing the company in the broader tech industry, advocating for responsible AI deployment, and advancing best practices in observability, chaos engineering, load testing, and full-stack refactors.
• You will join a mission-driven organization of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, engineers, and creatives dedicated to transforming healthcare through generative AI, where your leadership will directly impact millions of monthly medical conversations processed and the trust clinicians place in AI-generated documentation.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering management experience in rapidly growing organizations, including at least 1 year as a manager of managers.
• Proven track record in performance engineering, including load testing, chaos engineering, large-scale distributed telemetry (e.g., OpenTelemetry), major architectural refactors, and engineering velocity improvements.
• Hands-on experience managing production workloads across multiple cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and expertise in containerized systems, Kubernetes, and CNCF tooling such as Argo, Istio, and service mesh technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and scale high-performing engineering teams through strategic hiring, diversity and equity initiatives, retention strategies, and career development for senior ICs and managers.
• Strong alignment with Abridge’s mission to improve healthcare through responsible AI, with a genuine passion for impacting patient-clinician experiences and a desire to lead without ego or accolades.
• Exceptional tactical problem-solving skills: ability to navigate ambiguity, juggle multiple complex priorities, and enable tiger teams to unblock blockers and drive solutions in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.
