📋 Description

• As a Senior Fullstack Engineer on Zapier's Identity Platform team, you will own the foundational authentication and session infrastructure that enables enterprise customers to securely and reliably use Zapier at scale, directly impacting the company's ability to win and retain large-scale deals by ensuring seamless, secure access for thousands of users.
• You will design, build, and maintain critical identity systems including SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, OAuth/OIDC flows, multi-factor authentication, login/sign-up flows, and secure session management across a multi-service architecture, ensuring these systems are fast, resilient, and easy for other teams to integrate with while meeting strict enterprise compliance requirements.
• You will drive the strategic direction of the Identity Platform by evolving authentication context propagation across services (monolith, Node.js, Go), building enterprise-grade governance APIs (forced SSO, domain capture, credential lifecycle), and creating platform libraries and contracts used by dozens of internal teams, all while maintaining backward compatibility and low integration friction.
• You will work closely with enterprise buyers, internal engineering teams, security, and customer support to understand real-world needs, troubleshoot incidents, and ship working prototypes quickly to validate assumptions and drive alignment, treating compliance and security as design constraints to innovate within rather than barriers to progress.
• You will leverage AI agents as a core part of your development workflow—directing, reviewing, and iterating on agent-generated code to accelerate prototyping, spike solutions, and unblock integrations across teams, while mentoring others to adopt this approach and continuously evolve your own effectiveness in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• You will participate in on-call rotations for authentication-related incidents, contribute to observability and audit logging to ensure reliability and security, and engage in company-wide initiatives like yearly retreats to strengthen cross-functional collaboration and cultural alignment.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience building identity systems for enterprise SaaS at scale, including deep protocol-level knowledge of SAML, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC, or JWT in multi-tenant environments, with real-world exposure to challenges like token replay, session fixation, key rotation under load, multi-IdP federation, and just-in-time provisioning.
• A development workflow centered around directing and reviewing AI agent-written code, with demonstrated ability to use agents to explore unfamiliar codebases, spike prototypes rapidly, and drive adoption across teams—not just writing code manually.
• Comfort working across the full stack, including backend services in Python and Node.js (Django, Fastify), frontend work with React for admin or developer-facing UIs, and infrastructure involving Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines, without requiring expert-level mastery in all areas.
