- • The Senior Health Physicist provides health physics and waste management technical support for waste treatment and disposal facilities, serving as the technical subject matter expert on radiation safety to ensure the safe and effective use of radiological procedures for Republic Services’ operations.
- • Day to day, the incumbent develops and implements radiation safety protocols, serves as the technical point of contact for site health physics matters, works with regulatory agencies for compliance, assists with monitoring and dosimetry programs, performs annual radiological audits, and supports emergency response involving radioactive material.
- • Republic Services is a leader in the environmental services industry, providing recycling, waste, special waste, hazardous waste, and field services to 13 million customers across more than 1,000 locations in North America, with a commitment to sustainability, safety, and operational excellence.
- • In this role, the person can deepen expertise in radiation protection, regulatory compliance, and radiological risk assessment while contributing to environmental safety and sustainability initiatives at a nationally recognized company with strong employee engagement and community impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics, Radiological Health, Engineering, or Physical Science or related field
- • 4 - 7 years of professional experience in Health Physics and/or Radiation Safety Program Management
- • Knowledge of radiological protection standards and applicable regulations
- • Proficient in the use of radiation protection instrumentation and calibration requirements
- • American Board of Health Physics- Certified Health Physicist (CHP) - preferred
- • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologies (NRRPT) certification - preferred
