  • • Own and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Dedrone’s hardware product lines including RF sensors, radars, cameras, effectors, trailers, and supporting infrastructure.
  • • Partner closely with hardware engineering, RF engineering, electrical engineering, industrial design, and manufacturing teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and drive development from concept through production.
  • • Engage directly with military, government, and commercial customers to understand operational environments, gather feedback on hardware performance, and validate product concepts in real-world conditions.
  • • Manage the end-to-end hardware product lifecycle including requirements definition, prototyping, design reviews, testing and validation, regulatory certification, manufacturing readiness, and field deployment.
  • • Conduct market research and competitive analysis of counter-UAS hardware solutions to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
  • • Translate complex operational and technical requirements into clear product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria that guide engineering teams.
  • • Work with legal, regulatory, and quality teams to ensure hardware products meet applicable standards including ITAR, FCC, CE, MIL-STD, and other relevant certifications.
  • • Build and present compelling business cases to senior leadership, communicating product status, risks, and tradeoffs across the organization.
  • • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to manage component selection, vendor relationships, and manufacturing partnerships.
  • • This role is based out of the Sterling, VA office with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work Tuesdays through Fridays and remote work on Mondays, unless an approved workplace accommodation is in place.
  • • Report directly to the VP of Product with no direct reports.
  • • Ensure alignment of hardware product strategy with Axon’s mission to Protect Life and its ecosystem of devices and cloud software.
  • • Support authorized drone operations including public safety and first responder missions through rugged, high-performance counter-drone hardware solutions.
  • • Maintain awareness of emerging airspace threats and evolving defense technology trends to inform product innovation.
  • • Balance technical feasibility, cost, regulatory requirements, and time-to-market when defining product roadmaps.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, or related field), or equivalent relevant experience.
  • • 5+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of shipping physical/hardware products from concept through production.
  • • Strong understanding of hardware development processes including prototyping, design for manufacturing (DFM), testing, and certification.
  • • Experience working with cross-functional hardware and software teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • • Ability to translate customer and operational needs into clear technical requirements and product specifications.
  • • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
