- • Own the product vision and roadmap for Backblaze’s flagship B2 Cloud Storage platform, translating market insights, customer feedback, and business goals into a coherent 12- to 24-month plan that drives double-digit revenue growth and cements Backblaze’s position as the open-cloud storage leader.
- • Lead cross-functional squads of engineers, designers, data scientists, and go-to-market partners, running discovery workshops, writing crisp PRDs, and prioritizing features in Jira so that every sprint delivers measurable value to both enterprise and developer personas.
- • Deep-dive into usage analytics, cost-of-goods models, and competitive benchmarks to identify pricing gaps, performance bottlenecks, and expansion opportunities; present findings monthly to the exec team and iterate on data-driven experiments that improve gross margin by 3–5 pp.
- • Champion the voice of the customer by conducting 15+ customer interviews per quarter, synthesizing themes into Jobs-to-Be-Done stories, and feeding insights directly into the backlog so that roadmap items map to real pain points and revenue potential.
- • Define and track OKRs for adoption, retention, and NPS across self-serve and sales-led motions; own the dashboard in Looker and rally teams around hitting aggressive yet achievable targets tied to company-level growth goals.
- • Partner with Finance and BizOps to build bottoms-up revenue forecasts, capacity plans, and TCO models for new storage classes or edge services; ensure every major initiative has a clear ROI case and post-launch review loop.
- • Collaborate with Developer Relations to craft sample code, reference architectures, and launch-day webinars that accelerate time-to-first-byte for new users and reduce support tickets by 20 %.
- • Act as the escalation point for top-tier customers during beta programs, translating technical feedback into engineering tickets and ensuring rapid resolution that turns early adopters into vocal advocates.
- • Evangelize Backblaze’s open-cloud philosophy at industry events, podcasts, and AWS re:Invent side-sessions, growing our thought-leadership footprint and generating 500+ qualified leads per year.
- • Mentor junior PMs and interns, instituting best practices in story mapping, hypothesis testing, and stakeholder communication so that the entire product organization scales smoothly as headcount doubles.
- • Maintain a living competitive matrix covering AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Wasabi, and emerging decentralized protocols; update battle cards quarterly for Sales and SE teams to improve win rates in head-to-head evaluations.
- • Shepherd security, compliance, and data-residency features (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) through design, legal review, and launch, ensuring enterprise customers can confidently migrate sensitive workloads without friction.
- • Drive post-mortems and retros every release, codifying lessons learned into playbooks that shorten future cycle times and raise the quality bar for documentation, QA, and customer communications.
- • Contribute to M&A and partnership diligence by sizing TAM, mapping technical synergies, and building integration roadmaps that could add $10–50 M in ARR within three years.
- • Stay hands-on with the product: maintain your own B2 account, run performance tests from multiple continents, and file bugs like any power user so you experience the same joy and friction customers do.
