đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Solutions Architect at Smile Digital Health, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission of #BetterGlobalHealth by designing and implementing scalable, standards-based healthcare data solutions using the Smile FHIR-enabled platform, directly contributing to improved healthcare data interoperability across more than 20 countries.
- • You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise healthcare clients, guiding them through complex discovery and design phases where requirements are often ambiguous, and translating clinical and operational needs into robust, future-proof architectures aligned with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading solution design workshops with stakeholders, creating detailed technical architectures and integration blueprints, evaluating client environments for FHIR readiness, and defining data models, APIs, and workflows that ensure secure, scalable data exchange across care teams and health systems.
- • You will develop proof-of-concepts and prototype solutions to validate assumptions, conduct gap analyses against legacy systems, and recommend phased implementation strategies that balance innovation with practical constraints such as budget, timeline, and legacy infrastructure.
- • Throughout implementation and post-go-live phases, you will maintain architectural oversight, monitor solution performance, identify bottlenecks or edge cases, and collaborate with delivery and engineering teams to tune configurations, resolve issues, and ensure ongoing alignment with design intent.
- • You will act as a bridge between clinical, technical, and business teams — translating complex technical concepts into clear language for non-technical stakeholders while ensuring engineering teams receive precise, actionable specifications.
- • You will stay current with evolving healthcare interoperability standards (including FHIR, HL7, CDA, and provincial/national mandates), contribute to internal best practices, and mentor junior architects and delivery teams on architectural principles and Smile platform capabilities.
- • You will collaborate closely with product management to provide field-driven feedback that shapes platform roadmap enhancements, and with sales and TAMs to support pre-sales activities, solution positioning, and customer success initiatives.
- • You will document designs, decisions, and lessons learned in living architecture repositories, ensuring knowledge transfer and consistency across global implementations.
- • You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and initiative, thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where curiosity, adaptability, and a customer-centric mindset are essential to success.
- • About the team and company: Smile Digital Health is a rapidly growing, mission-driven health tech leader recognized as #19 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for 2024, with a global footprint and a culture rooted in innovation, collaboration, and improving health outcomes through better data.
- • You will join a passionate, cross-functional team of engineers, clinicians, and implementation specialists who value intellectual curiosity, technical excellence, and a shared commitment to liberating healthcare data for the benefit of patients and providers worldwide.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, enterprise architecture, and cloud-based health platforms while gaining exposure to diverse international health systems and regulatory environments.
- • You will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of a cutting-edge FHIR platform used by hospitals, public health agencies, and research organizations, leaving a tangible legacy in the advancement of #BetterGlobalHealth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., TOGAF, FHIR Certifications) are a plus.
- • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, healthcare IT, or health information exchange, with proven success designing and implementing FHIR-based or interoperable health data solutions.
- • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards including FHIR, HL7 v2/v3, CDA, DICOM, and experience with APIs, REST, JSON, and XML in healthcare contexts.
- • Hands-on experience with Smile Digital Health’s platform or similar FHIR servers (e.g., HAPI FHIR, Microsoft Azure API for FHIR, Google Cloud Healthcare API) is highly desirable.
- • Strong background in enterprise integration patterns, data modeling, and workflow design within complex clinical or public health environments.
- • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with ability to engage C-level executives, clinicians, IT teams, and vendors in technical and strategic discussions.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work arrangement with flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada, supported by a collaborative virtual culture and regular team connection events.
- • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits including medical, dental, vision, and mental health support, plus a wellness allowance.
- • Generous vacation policy, paid statutory holidays, and additional wellness days to support work-life balance.
- • Professional development budget for certifications, conferences, and training — including support for FHIR and architecture-related learning.
- • Equity participation through stock options, allowing you to share in the company’s long-term success and mission-driven growth.
- • Access to cutting-edge health tech projects with real-world impact in over 20 countries, offering unparalleled exposure to global healthcare innovation.
