- • As a Senior Solutions Architect at Smile Digital Health, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission of #BetterGlobalHealth by designing and implementing scalable, standards-aligned healthcare data solutions using the FHIR-based Smile platform, directly contributing to improved data exchange and care coordination for healthcare organizations across more than 20 countries.
- • You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise healthcare clients during early discovery and design phases, helping them navigate ambiguous requirements, uncover hidden needs, and architect future-proof solutions grounded in regulatory frameworks, interoperability standards, and Smile’s best practices—ensuring alignment between technical execution and clinical or operational outcomes.
- • Day to day, you will lead solution design workshops with clinical, IT, and leadership stakeholders to elicit requirements, map data flows, and define architecture blueprints using Smile’s platform capabilities, including data modeling, API design, and integration patterns.
- • You will create detailed technical specifications, data mapping documents, and implementation roadmaps that guide engineering and delivery teams, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance with standards such as HL7 FHIR, USCDI, and HIPAA.
- • Throughout implementation and post-go-live phases, you will maintain architectural oversight, monitor solution performance, identify bottlenecks or edge cases, and recommend tuning or design adjustments to ensure reliability, scalability, and user satisfaction in production environments.
- • You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, delivery, and Technical Account Management (TAM) teams to translate customer needs into platform enhancements, provide feedback on usability and gaps, and support seamless handoffs between phases of the project lifecycle.
- • You will stay current with evolving healthcare interoperability trends, including TEFCA, CMS rules, and global FHIR adoption, and actively contribute to internal knowledge sharing, best practice development, and thought leadership through internal forums, client presentations, and documentation.
- • You will mentor junior architects and consultants, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and customer-centric problem solving across the implementations team.
- • The Solutions Architecture team at Smile Digital Health is a collaborative, mission-driven group of technologists and healthcare domain experts who are passionate about unlocking the value of health data to improve patient outcomes and system efficiency.
- • Smile Digital Health is a fast-growing, award-winning health tech innovator recognized as #19 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for 2024, with a proven track record of delivering impactful FHIR-based solutions to hospitals, public health agencies, and health information exchanges worldwide.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in healthcare interoperability, enterprise architecture, and regulated SaaS implementations while gaining exposure to complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare ecosystems and influencing the evolution of a platform used to advance global health equity.
- • You will have the opportunity to shape the future of Smile’s platform by feeding real-world implementation insights into product strategy, positioning yourself as a key influencer in both customer success and technological innovation within the company.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., TOGAF, FHIR Certifier, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect) preferred.
- • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, healthcare IT, or enterprise software implementation, with proven success designing and deploying FHIR-based or health data exchange systems.
- • Deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2/v3, CDA, USCDI, TEFCA, and HIPAA, with hands-on experience in data modeling, API design, and integration patterns.
- • Proven ability to lead technical workshops and translate ambiguous business or clinical requirements into clear, actionable architecture decisions and technical specifications.
- • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across clinical, IT, and executive stakeholders in complex healthcare environments.
- • Experience supporting full lifecycle implementations—from discovery and design through build, test, go-live, and post-go-live optimization—within regulated or enterprise SaaS environments.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States, offering flexibility and work-life balance while collaborating with a distributed, mission-driven team.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, including mental health resources and wellness programs designed to support holistic employee well-being.
- • Generous paid time off (PTO), company holidays, and parental leave policies that reflect Smile’s commitment to employee sustainability and long-term engagement.
- • Professional development stipend and support for certifications, conferences, and continuous learning in healthcare technology and architecture domains.
- • Equity participation through stock options, allowing employees to share in the company’s growth and success as it scales globally.
- • Access to cutting-edge health tech projects with real-world impact in over 20 countries, providing meaningful work tied to improved patient outcomes and health system efficiency.
