đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Technical Writer at Loft Labs, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience for vCluster, a groundbreaking technology in the Kubernetes virtualization space. This is not merely a documentation role; it's an opportunity to architect the "Golden Path" for our users, ensuring their journey from initial curiosity to enterprise-level mastery is seamless, intuitive, and highly impactful. You will be instrumental in building a world-class documentation ecosystem that scales alongside our rapid growth and our ambition to define the Kubernetes virtualization category.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to own the ultimate outcome of our documentation: a cohesive, intuitive, and high-impact documentation ecosystem. You will act as the "Product Manager" for our documentation, moving beyond traditional task-based writing to design and implement a scalable content strategy. This strategy will guide developers through various stages of engagement, from exploring open-source possibilities to achieving full enterprise adoption.
- • A key aspect of this role involves implementing industry-standard documentation structures, such as the Diátaxis framework. You will bring clarity and order to complex technical information by meticulously separating conceptual guides, step-by-step tutorials, practical how-to articles, and comprehensive reference materials. This structured approach will ensure that every developer, regardless of their expertise level, can quickly find the precise information they need, minimizing friction and maximizing efficiency.
- • You will lead the critical initiative to consolidate and refine our user onboarding journeys. Currently spanning six distinct paths, you will transform this landscape into a singular, high-velocity "Golden Path." The goal is to create an exceptional "Wow" experience for every engineer's first cluster deployment, setting a high standard for usability and immediate value realization.
- • This role demands close collaboration and cross-functional partnership with our DevRel, Engineering, and Product teams. You will be responsible for building robust feedback loops and establishing rigorous documentation testing protocols. Furthermore, you will define and implement contribution guidelines that empower our entire technical team to actively participate in building and maintaining a state-of-the-art internal knowledge base, fostering a culture of shared technical knowledge.
- • You will manage the complete lifecycle of our versioned, open-source, and platform documentation with a strong "value over volume" philosophy. This disciplined execution ensures that our documentation is as robust, reliable, and up-to-date as the code it describes, providing a trustworthy resource for our users.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a deep, hands-on understanding of Kubernetes (K8s) environments and complex infrastructure components, including networking, API gateways, and bare-metal configurations. Fluency in "Cloud Native" terminology and concepts is essential, as you will be communicating with a highly technical audience.
- • We are looking for a candidate with cognitive flexibility – someone open-minded and willing to challenge and abandon traditional documentation practices when presented with data-driven insights into how modern developers consume information. This adaptability is crucial for staying ahead in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
- • Strategic thinking is paramount. You will not merely adhere to an existing style guide but will proactively anticipate potential friction points in the user journey. You will identify complex architectural challenges and devise innovative content solutions to address them, ensuring a smooth and effective user experience.
- • Bonus points will be awarded for candidates with analytical prowess, particularly those with experience leveraging documentation analytics and user feedback loops to measure key metrics like "Time to Hello World" and overall organizational health. Experience in bridging the gap between open-source community documentation and commercial enterprise platforms is also highly valued.
- • A modern tech mindset, embracing a "docs-as-code" approach and thriving in environments that prioritize automation and AI-driven internal knowledge bases over static, manual pages, will set candidates apart. You will contribute to solving discovery problems through these advanced methods.

About Loft Labs, Inc.
Loft Labs created vCluster, an open-source tool that spins up lightweight, virtual Kubernetes clusters inside existing namespaces. By running an isolated control plane within a single namespace, teams gain cluster-like isolation without the cost or overhead of full clusters, enabling safe multi-tenancy, faster CI/CD, and easier development workflows. The company provides enterprise support, a management platform, and add-ons to scale virtual clusters across clouds and on-premises infrastructure.
