Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the evolution of Abercrombie & Fitch’s next-generation Design System, a token-driven, Figma-based platform that powers consistent, scalable, and inclusive experiences across responsive web, native iOS & Android apps, and emerging digital touchpoints for millions of global customers.
- • Define and refine the visual language, interaction patterns, and component standards that will become the single source of truth for all A&F brands—Abercrombie & Fitch, YPB, abercrombie kids, Hollister, and Gilly Hicks—ensuring every pixel feels unmistakably on-brand and accessible.
- • Architect a sophisticated token system using semantic tokens, variable-based theming, and Figma variables to guarantee style parity across web stacks (React, AEM) and native frameworks (SwiftUI, Kotlin), while enabling rapid localization and white-label theming for global markets.
- • Partner hand-in-hand with front-end and mobile engineers to integrate tokens and components into production code via Figma REST API, Storybook, and CI/CD pipelines, eliminating drift between design intent and shipped product.
- • Author and maintain crystal-clear documentation—component specs, usage guidelines, accessibility notes, and do/don’t examples—directly inside Figma and in an external knowledge base so that any designer or developer can onboard in minutes, not days.
- • Champion accessibility and inclusivity by validating every component against WCAG 2.2 standards, conducting regular audits with assistive-technology users, and embedding a11y requirements into the system’s DNA rather than treating them as afterthoughts.
- • Drive adoption and design-system literacy across 100+ product designers, brand creatives, and external agencies by hosting weekly office hours, live workshops, and self-paced e-learning modules, turning skeptics into evangelists.
- • Mentor mid-level and junior designers through pair-design sessions, design critiques, and career-path guidance, fostering a culture of continuous learning and raising the bar for craft quality across the entire Digital Product Design org.
- • Socialize updates and new component logic to executive stakeholders through compelling demos, ROI metrics, and narrative storytelling that links design-system investment to conversion, velocity, and brand equity gains.
- • Stay ahead of the curve by experimenting with AI-assisted design tools, variable fonts, advanced prototyping techniques, and emerging tech like MCP servers, then distilling insights into actionable system enhancements that future-proof our ecosystem.
- • Contribute to the broader design community by publishing case studies, speaking at conferences, and open-sourcing select components, positioning A&F as a thought leader in design-system maturity and inclusive design excellence.
- • Measure success through both qualitative feedback (designer satisfaction, NPS) and quantitative KPIs (component reuse rate, build-time savings, accessibility bug reduction), iterating relentlessly to maximize impact.
