- • Join Forter, a leader in digital commerce trust, as a hands-on and detail-oriented Staff Accountant in our dynamic Finance team based in New York.
- • This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to the accuracy and timeliness of our financial operations, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting.
- • You will gain extensive exposure to General Ledger (GL) operations, global payroll processes, and high-impact special projects, playing a crucial part in Forter's continued growth and success.
- • The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring three days per week in our vibrant NYC office, fostering collaboration and team synergy.
- • General Ledger & Month-End Close:
- • Take ownership of daily accounting operations, including meticulous GL maintenance, efficient banking transaction management, and precise account reconciliations.
- • Prepare and post essential monthly journal entries, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of both month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- • Uphold the integrity of our financial records by maintaining comprehensive and compliant documentation in adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- • Provide critical support for the annual audit process by diligently preparing necessary workpapers and assembling required documentation, demonstrating your commitment to transparency and compliance.
- • Payroll & Total Rewards Support:
- • Play a key role in the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly and monthly global payroll for both our U.S. and international entities, ensuring our employees worldwide are compensated correctly.
- • Serve as the primary backup and trusted support for the Global Payroll Manager, stepping in to ensure seamless payroll operations during their absence and contributing to overall team efficiency.
- • Generate and record all financial transactions related to payroll, and meticulously reconcile all payroll and total rewards-related accounts, ensuring financial accuracy and balance.
- • Assist in the preparation and timely filing of local, state, and federal taxes, including the accurate submission of sales tax returns, potentially leveraging tools like Avalara for efficiency.
- • Special Projects & Process Improvement:
- • Contribute to a variety of ad-hoc projects that are vital to our operational and strategic initiatives, which may include tax registrations, supporting audit and assurance (A&A) activities, and other one-time or ongoing critical projects.
- • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the finance department, proactively identifying opportunities for increased efficiency in our systems, processes, and workflows.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new financial processes or enhance existing ones, driving operational excellence throughout the organization.
- • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring they remain current and aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- • Support the integration of new financial systems or modules, contributing to the technological advancement of the finance function.
- • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, or areas for cost savings, providing actionable insights to management.
- • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for senior leadership, contributing to informed decision-making.
- • Engage in research and analysis of accounting pronouncements and their impact on the company's financial statements.
- • Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the entire financial cycle.
- • Contribute to the development and execution of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
- • Participate in the onboarding and training of new finance team members, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative team environment.
