  • • The Staff Accountant will report to the Supervisor of Accounting Operations and oversee the quality and accuracy of financial statements for Kaplan, Inc, a leading global provider of educational services, ensuring compliance with GAAP and supporting financial integrity across the organization.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and posting standard and adjusting journal entries, performing month-end close procedures, reviewing revenue reports for accuracy, reconciling balance sheet accounts, conducting variance analysis of profit and loss and balance sheet statements, assisting with audit requests, and maintaining proper internal controls for corporate and field financial processes.
  • • The role operates within Kaplan’s Accounting team, collaborating with team leaders and field personnel to achieve financial goals and deliverables, supporting the company’s mission through accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • • The position offers opportunities to deepen expertise in GAAP, financial systems, audit processes, and financial analysis, while developing skills in Excel, Oracle, and cross-functional communication, contributing to professional growth in corporate accounting.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition, inventory, accounts receivable, allowance for doubtful accounts, accruals, and P&L variances
  • • Proficiency in Excel
  • • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapt to new systems, and assist with audit processes
  • • Oracle experience preferred
