📋 Description

• As a Staff Backend Engineer on the Grafana App Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Grafana into a scalable, multi-tenant observability platform that powers both open-source and proprietary cloud applications. Your work will directly impact how millions of users and thousands of enterprises monitor and understand their systems, from climate science to financial trading.
• Day to day, you will code new backend features in Go, enhance system reliability and observability, author and review technical design documents, contribute to product roadmap planning, mentor fellow engineers, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure platform stability and customer experience.
• You will join a remote-first, globally distributed team at Grafana Labs — an open-source innovator trusted by NASA, Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, eBay, and over 20M users worldwide. • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, SaaS scalability, and platform engineering while shaping the future of observability. 🎯 Requirements

• Strong coding skills with operational experience in the software you’ve built
• Experience working on SaaS platforms at scale, including distributed systems challenges like scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, and high availability
• Excellent communication skills — able to articulate ideas clearly in writing and meetings, and choose the right communication mode for the context
• Willingness to collaborate across teams, align with stakeholder needs, and incorporate feedback transparently
• Pragmatic mindset — prioritizing progress over perfection, comfortable with ambiguity and iterative delivery
• Familiarity with or enthusiasm to learn Golang (Go), the primary backend language used at Grafana Labs
