📋 Description

• As a Staff Backend Engineer on the Grafana App Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in evolving Grafana’s core architecture into a fully multi-tenant, scalable platform that enables both open-source and proprietary observability apps to seamlessly integrate with dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry data.
• Your day-to-day work will involve designing, building, and optimizing backend systems for Grafana Cloud, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance as the platform supports growing numbers of enterprise customers and diverse workloads across global infrastructures.
• You will join a remote-first, globally distributed engineering team at Grafana Labs, a company trusted by over 20M users and 3,000+ enterprises including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay, where open-source values, transparency, and innovation drive everything we do.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in large-scale SaaS platforms, contribute to foundational architecture shifts, and grow as a technical leader while shaping the future of observability through impactful, high-visibility projects that power critical monitoring workflows worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience building and scaling SaaS platforms at scale, particularly in backend systems handling high-throughput, multi-tenant workloads.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) or similar systems programming languages, with a track record of writing performant, maintainable, and production-grade code.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, including concepts like service discovery, load balancing, caching, and fault tolerance in cloud-native environments.
• Experience with observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces) and familiarity with Grafana’s OSS components (Mimir, Loki, Tempo) or similar technologies is a strong plus.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in remote, asynchronous teams with a focus on transparency, autonomy, and outcomes-driven work.
