📋 Description

• As a Staff Backend Engineer on the Grafana App Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Grafana into a scalable, multi-tenant observability platform that enables both open-source and proprietary apps to seamlessly integrate with dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry. This role is critical to Grafana Labs’ mission of scaling its Cloud/Grafana-as-a-service business while maintaining the reliability and performance trusted by millions of users and thousands of enterprise customers worldwide.
• Day to day, you will code new backend features in Go, enhance system observability and operational excellence, author and review technical design documents, contribute to product roadmap planning, mentor junior engineers, collaborate across squads and stakeholders, and participate in on-call rotations (weekday 12h x 5d and weekend 24h x 2d) to ensure system reliability and customer experience ownership.
• You will join a remote-first, global engineering team at Grafana Labs — a company powering observability for over 20M users and 3,000+ enterprises including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay. 🎯 Requirements

• Strong backend coding skills with experience operating software you’ve built in production
• Proven experience working on SaaS platforms and solving distributed systems challenges (scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, high availability)
• Excellent communication skills — able to articulate ideas clearly in writing and meetings, and choose the right communication mode for the context
• Willingness to collaborate across teams, align with stakeholder needs, and incorporate feedback transparently
• Pragmatic mindset: prioritizes progress over perfection, comfortable with ambiguity, and focused on outcomes
• Familiarity with or enthusiasm to learn Golang (Go), the primary backend language used at Grafana Labs
