📋 Description

• Build and scale Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS), a configurable, multi-tenant travel commerce engine that powers booking experiences for global partners including banks, airlines, and fintech leaders.
• Own end-to-end development of backend features that connect cardholder behavior to personalized travel offers, driving incremental spend and partner competitiveness.
• Architect scalable, foundational systems that enable rapid launch of new partner experiences with minimal custom engineering.
• Orchestrate AI agents and automated workflows to accelerate development cycles, shipping features in a fraction of the time previously possible—not just for code completion, but for system design, testing, and deployment.
• Design and implement guardrails and feedback loops to ensure AI-assisted development remains productive, reliable, and aligned with product quality standards.
• Work in a low-process, high-autonomy environment with senior engineers, driving technical decisions asynchronously through clear documentation and specs.
• Collaborate directly with product managers and business partners to define roadmap priorities and refine technical vision based on customer impact.
• Improve codebase maintainability and velocity for both human engineers and AI agents, prioritizing system reliability and speed over theoretical elegance.
• Work across the stack as needed using AI tooling, but primarily focus on backend systems built in Scala and GCP services.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions that enhance partner integrations, increase conversion, and improve traveler outcomes.
• Contribute to a culture of open communication, constructive feedback, and continuous learning within small, high-impact teams.
• Ship complete features from backend logic to partner-facing interfaces, with ownership over testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Leverage deep understanding of LLM strengths and limitations to make judgment calls on when to trust automated outputs and when to intervene manually.
• Drive technical innovation that positions Hopper as the leading B2B travel commerce platform, serving over 410M cardholders across global banking partners.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience designing and shipping scalable distributed systems, preferably in Scala or a similar JVM language
• Proven ability to orchestrate AI agents and automated workflows to build, test, and maintain complex software systems
• Strong product thinking anchored in customer experience rather than technical elegance
• Demonstrated judgment in evaluating LLM outputs and implementing feedback loops for reliable AI-assisted development
• Ability to dive into unfamiliar codebases and deliver results quickly with minimal oversight
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical tradeoffs and drive consensus asynchronously
