📋 Description

• Build and scale the Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) platform, a configurable, multi-tenant travel commerce engine that powers booking experiences for global partners including banks, airlines, and fintech leaders.
• Own end-to-end development of features from backend systems to partner-facing surfaces, prioritizing shipping complete functionality over narrow stack expertise.
• Design scalable architectural patterns and foundational systems that enable rapid launch of new partner experiences across HTS’s growing client base.
• Leverage AI agents and automated workflows to accelerate development cycles, orchestrating tools to build, test, and maintain complex systems — not just auto-complete code.
• Establish guardrails and feedback loops to ensure AI-assisted development remains productive, reliable, and aligned with product quality standards.
• Work autonomously within a senior engineering team that values trust, low process, and asynchronous decision-making through clear documentation and specs.
• Collaborate directly with product managers and business partners to define roadmap priorities, translating business goals into technical execution.
• Improve codebase usability for both human engineers and AI agents, focusing on maintainability, safety, and velocity rather than theoretical elegance.
• Drive technical consensus across teams by articulating tradeoffs, rationale, and long-term implications of architectural decisions.
• Work primarily in Scala and GCP services, but apply stack-agnostic thinking — prior experience with Go, Python, Java, or similar languages is sufficient if you learn quickly.
• Contribute to a platform serving 410M cardholders across banking partners, with the goal of connecting cardholder behavior to personalized travel offers and driving incremental spend.
• Enable partners to compete more effectively by embedding Hopper’s fintech products — such as Cancel for Any Reason and Flight Disruption Assistance — into their direct channels.
• Engage in a culture of open communication with leadership, small dynamic teams, and high individual impact.
• Use AI judgment to determine when to trust automated outputs and when to intervene, based on deep understanding of LLM strengths and limitations.
• Contribute to a global travel platform that has been downloaded over 120 million times and powers over 75% of Hopper’s business through its B2B division.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience building and scaling distributed systems in a production environment
• Demonstrated ability to architect and ship end-to-end features across backend and cross-stack boundaries
• Experience designing and managing AI-assisted development workflows with guardrails and feedback loops
• Strong product thinking anchored in customer experience, not just technical perfection
• Mastery-level willingness to learn and work in Scala and GCP services
• Ability to articulate technical decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale clearly and persuasively
