Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Build and scale the Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) platform, a configurable, multi-tenant travel commerce engine that powers booking experiences for global partners including banks, airlines, and fintech leaders.
- • Own end-to-end development of backend features that connect cardholder behavior to personalized travel offers, driving incremental spend and partner competitiveness.
- • Architect scalable, foundational systems that enable rapid deployment of new partner experiences with minimal custom engineering.
- • Leverage AI agents and automated workflows to accelerate development cycles, orchestrating tools to ship features faster while maintaining reliability and safety.
- • Design and implement guardrails and feedback loops to ensure AI-assisted development remains productive, accurate, and aligned with product goals.
- • Work in a low-process, high-autonomy environment with senior engineers, making technical decisions through asynchronous documentation and thoughtful specs.
- • Collaborate directly with product managers and business partners to define roadmap priorities and refine technical vision based on customer impact.
- • Improve codebase maintainability and velocity for both human engineers and AI agents by identifying and executing systemic enhancements.
- • Ship features across the stack—primarily backend in Scala and GCP—but use AI tooling to efficiently engage with frontend (React + TypeScript) and other layers as needed.
- • Prioritize customer experience and business outcomes over technical elegance, anchoring architecture decisions in real-world partner and traveler needs.
- • Articulate tradeoffs clearly when solving complex problems, explaining not just how a solution works but why it was chosen and what compromises were made.
- • Contribute to a diverse, collaborative team culture by giving and receiving feedback to drive individual and collective growth.
- • Participate in shaping the future of travel commerce by expanding HTS’s reach to hundreds of millions of cardholders across global banking and travel partners.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience building and scaling distributed backend systems in Scala or a strong willingness to master it
- • Demonstrated ability to design and manage AI-assisted development workflows, including agent orchestration and feedback loops
- • Strong product thinking with a focus on customer impact over technical perfection
- • Experience working autonomously in low-process environments with high ownership and asynchronous collaboration
- • Ability to articulate technical decisions, tradeoffs, and architectural rationale clearly and persuasively
- • Natural drive to dive into unfamiliar codebases and deliver results quickly
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary with pre-IPO equity packages
- • Unlimited PTO
- • Carrot Cash travel stipend
- • Access to co-working space via FlexDesk and work-from-home stipend
- • 100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
- • Generous parental leave policy exceeding industry standards
