📋 Description

• Build and scale the Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) platform, a configurable, multi-tenant travel commerce engine used by major global brands including banks, airlines, and fintech leaders to power their travel booking experiences.
• Own end-to-end development of features from backend systems to partner-facing surfaces, prioritizing shipping complete functionality over narrow stack expertise.
• Leverage AI agents and automated workflows to accelerate development cycles, orchestrating multi-step workflows and implementing feedback loops that ensure reliability and quality in AI-assisted development.
• Identify and implement codebase improvements that enhance both human and AI agent velocity, ensuring systems remain maintainable, scalable, and safe for rapid iteration.
• Architect foundational patterns and scalable backend systems that enable efficient launch of new partner experiences across diverse travel verticals.
• Collaborate directly with product managers and business partners to define, refine, and prioritize the product roadmap based on customer impact and business goals.
• Drive technical decisions and consensus asynchronously through clear documentation, specs, and thoughtful communication in a low-process, high-autonomy environment.
• Work primarily in Scala and GCP services, but apply stack-agnostic thinking—leveraging prior experience in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages to rapidly adapt and deliver.
• Design guardrails and monitoring systems to ensure AI-assisted development remains productive, accurate, and aligned with product quality standards.
• Translate cardholder behavior data into actionable travel offers, enabling partners to increase incremental spend and improve competitiveness through personalized commerce.
• Contribute to a culture of open feedback, continuous learning, and technical ownership within small, high-impact teams.
• Balance technical architecture decisions with customer-centric product thinking, prioritizing real-world impact over theoretical elegance.
• Participate in cross-functional collaboration with diverse teams, giving and receiving constructive feedback to foster individual and team growth.
• Contribute to the evolution of Hopper’s B2B platform, which powers over 410M cardholders across banking partners and represents more than 75% of the company’s business.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience designing and shipping scalable backend systems in distributed environments
• Proven ability to orchestrate AI agents and automated workflows to build and maintain complex systems, with judgment to intervene when necessary
• Mastery-level willingness to learn and work with Scala and GCP services
• Strong product thinking anchored in customer experience rather than technical elegance
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions asynchronously through documentation and specs
• Natural drive to dive into unfamiliar codebases and deliver results quickly
