Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Architect the next generation of cloud infrastructure that will power billions of dollars in insurance-claim decisions. You will own the design, implementation, and evolution of a multi-tenant, highly-available platform running on AWS (EKS, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS, S3) that must scale from dozens to thousands of concurrent customer environments without missing a beat.
- • Automate everything that can be automated. Using Terraform and Terragrunt you will codify every network, IAM policy, EKS cluster, and Aurora instance so that new customer environments can be spun up in minutes, not days. Your IaC modules will become the golden path that every engineer trusts and extends.
- • Harden our security and compliance posture end-to-end. You will implement guardrails via Service Control Policies, enforce least-privilege IAM, rotate secrets automatically, and integrate continuous compliance scanning so that SOC 2, PCI, and state-insurance audits become non-events rather than fire drills.
- • Make the developer experience magical. Build self-service portals, golden-container base images, and CI/CD templates that let product teams ship features faster while you absorb the complexity of cross-account networking, cost optimization, and disaster recovery under the hood.
- • Lead incident response and reliability engineering. You will define SLIs/SLOs, automate runbooks, and run game-day drills so that when (not if) a region fails or a noisy neighbor spikes Aurora CPU, the platform degrades gracefully and recovers without human intervention.
- • Mentor and level-up the broader engineering org. Through design reviews, brown-bags, and pair programming you will raise the bar on how we reason about distributed systems, capacity planning, and cost-aware architecture, turning infrastructure from a cost center into a competitive advantage.
- • Drive data-driven platform decisions. Instrument everything with Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch; surface cost-per-claim metrics; and use that telemetry to prioritize investments in autoscaling, spot-instance orchestration, or Aurora Serverless v2 adoption.
- • Champion a culture of operational excellence. You will establish on-call rotations that are fair and sustainable, codify post-mortems that focus on systems not blame, and celebrate the 3 a.m. fix that prevents a 3 p.m. outage.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data science, and fraud-detection teams to translate ambitious road-maps into infrastructure reality—whether that means spinning up GPU-enabled EKS node groups for ML inference or partitioning Aurora to handle a 10× increase in claims volume during natural-disaster season.
- • Stay on the bleeding edge responsibly. Evaluate new AWS services (Graviton, Lambda SnapStart, Aurora Limitless Database) in sandbox accounts, run controlled pilots, and roll out the winners with zero-downtime migrations that the rest of the company never notices.
