Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the design, architecture, and operation of cloud networking infrastructure across the organization’s entire engineering footprint, starting with AWS and expanding to multi-cloud environments.
- • Lead the deployment of IPv6-native VPC architecture and implement IPv6 networking for EKS workloads from the ground up, including IPAM, subnetting, and routing configurations.
- • Establish the foundational networking standards and best practices that all engineering teams will build against, serving as the sole authority on cloud networking decisions.
- • Transition networking responsibilities from generalist DevOps engineers to a dedicated, specialized function, creating a new discipline within the organization.
- • Design and implement secure, scalable private connectivity solutions including VPC peering, transit gateways, and private DNS via Route 53.
- • Architect network connectivity strategies for multi-cloud environments before complexity becomes operational debt, ensuring seamless cross-provider communication.
- • Define and operationalize Kubernetes networking patterns for EKS, including CNI behavior, pod-to-service addressing, ingress routing, and network policies.
- • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for networking using Terraform or equivalent tools within a GitOps workflow, ensuring version-controlled, auditable deployments.
- • Drive technical direction without formal authority by influencing engineering teams, documenting standards, and mentoring engineers on networking best practices.
- • Evaluate and recommend network security, compliance, and observability practices aligned with organizational scale and regulatory needs.
- • Proactively identify and resolve network bottlenecks, latency issues, and scalability constraints in production environments.
- • Collaborate with platform, product, and security teams to ensure network architecture supports application performance, reliability, and growth.
- • Document network topologies, configurations, and decision rationale to enable knowledge transfer and onboarding of future team members.
- • Serve as the primary point of contact for all cloud networking incidents, outages, and performance investigations, leading root cause analysis and remediation.
- • Stay ahead of industry trends in cloud networking, evaluating emerging tools and architectures for adoption as the organization scales.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep, hands-on AWS networking expertise in production environments at scale
- • Strong vendor-agnostic networking fundamentals: IPv4/IPv6, routing, DNS, TCP/IP, BGP, NAT
- • Demonstrated experience deploying and troubleshooting IPv6 in cloud or large-scale network environments
- • Production experience with VPCs, transit/peering, IPAM, and private connectivity on AWS
- • Infrastructure-as-code proficiency (Terraform or equivalent) in a GitOps workflow
- • Experience with Kubernetes networking, specifically EKS, including CNI and pod/service addressing
🏖️ Benefits
- • High-autonomy role with broad ownership over a critical infrastructure function
- • Opportunity to define a new engineering discipline from the ground up
- • Competitive compensation benchmarked using trusted market data with geographic tiering
- • Inclusive workplace culture committed to diversity and employee empowerment
