đź“‹ Description

  • • As the inaugural Data Engineer at Artisan, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our data infrastructure, empowering our groundbreaking AI employees. This is a unique opportunity to build and own the entire data ecosystem from the ground up in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. You will be at the forefront of managing and leveraging a massive database of hundreds of millions of leads, and developing sophisticated real-time intent signals that monitor critical data fields for these leads. Your work will directly impact the intelligence and effectiveness of our AI BDR, Ava, and pave the way for future AI employee development.
  • • Your core responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines. These pipelines will be responsible for processing and transforming vast volumes of both structured and unstructured data, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. You will architect solutions that can handle the complexities of ingesting data from a variety of sources, including third-party APIs, internal systems, and crucial customer datasets. This requires a deep understanding of data flow management and a proactive approach to anticipating future data needs.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve developing and maintaining sophisticated data models and schemas. These will be optimized not only for efficient storage but also for high performance in both our ML operations and core product functionalities. You will be the architect of our data storage systems, ensuring they are capable of supporting complex analytical queries and real-time data access requirements. This includes exploring and implementing technologies that can handle the scale and variety of data we manage.
  • • Collaboration will be key. You will work hand-in-hand with our talented ML engineers to prepare datasets that are perfectly tailored for model training, embedding generation, feature stores, and rigorous evaluation. This involves understanding the nuances of ML data requirements and translating them into actionable data engineering solutions. Your efforts will directly accelerate the development and improvement of our AI capabilities.
  • • Implementing comprehensive data quality monitoring, validation, and observability systems will be paramount. You will establish the frameworks and processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our data. This proactive approach to data quality will build trust in our data assets and prevent issues before they impact our AI employees or product performance.
  • • You will partner closely with our product engineers to support the integration of new features that depend on complex data flows. This requires a deep understanding of how data underpins our product and the ability to engineer solutions that are both performant and maintainable.
  • • A critical aspect of your role will be optimizing our data systems for performance, cost-efficiency, and overall reliability. You will continuously seek opportunities to improve query speeds, reduce infrastructure costs, and ensure the high availability of our data services.
  • • As the first Data Engineer, you will have a significant voice in early architecture decisions, infrastructure design, and the establishment of best practices for data governance. You will help define the standards and principles that will guide our data strategy for years to come.
  • • Furthermore, you will build essential tooling that empowers the entire engineering team to easily access, understand, and utilize clean, well-structured data. This democratizes data access and fosters a data-driven culture across the organization.
  • • This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to make a tangible impact on a rapidly growing company that is redefining the future of work with AI. You will be a foundational member of the engineering team, with the autonomy to shape our data strategy and the visibility to see your contributions directly influence our success. If you are passionate about building scalable data solutions and thrive in an environment where you can own critical systems, this is the role for you.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, with a proven track record of designing, building, and operating production-grade data pipelines.
  • • Proficiency in Python and SQL, coupled with hands-on experience with modern data tooling such as dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or similar orchestration and transformation tools.
  • • Demonstrated comfort and effectiveness working in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments, with the ability to adapt and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
  • • Experience designing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including managing data ingestion from various sources.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and equity in a high-growth, venture-backed startup.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Opportunity to be the first Data Engineer and shape the data infrastructure of a category-defining AI company.
  • • Fully remote work environment within the USA, offering flexibility and work-life balance.
  • • Generous PTO and paid holidays.
