- • Staff Design Quality Engineer at Pano AI Inc., a leader in early wildfire detection using AI, IoT, and satellite technology, dedicated to reducing response time and saving lives through faster fire detection and verification.
- • Act as the independent quality and systems-risk steward across hardware, firmware, software, and AI subsystems, partnering with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate system-level risks from concept to production.
- • Lead system-level risk assessments (FMEAs/DFMEAs), define verification and validation strategies, and ensure traceability between risks, requirements, tests, and mitigations for camera systems and analytics.
- • Drive risk-based decision making, prioritize mitigations under uncertainty, and document rationale for release decisions and residual risk to support safe and reliable field performance.
- • Design and execute reliability and stress tests simulating real-world conditions (power/thermal cycling, network latency, OTA failures) and collaborate with AI teams to define telemetry for model performance monitoring.
- • Mentor engineering teams on structured problem-solving (5-Whys, DMAIC) and quality best practices to scale processes across fast-evolving hardware/AI products.
- • Contribute to a mission-driven culture at a growth-stage hybrid-remote startup backed by top VCs and recognized by TIME, MIT Tech Review, and Fast Company for innovation in climate tech and AI.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Systems or related) or equivalent experience
- • 10+ years’ experience in design quality, reliability engineering, systems engineering, or similar roles for products combining hardware, firmware, and software (embedded + cloud + AI)
- • Proven experience owning system-level risk artifacts (e.g., FMEAs) and applying risk-based decision making
- • Hands-on experience planning and executing verification & validation strategies, including test method development and statistical techniques for acceptance criteria
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical findings to engineers and executive stakeholders
