- • Own the infrastructure and reliability practices supporting 9 million+ users and all engineering teams at Babylist, ensuring systems are scalable, performant, and resilient.
- • Design, manage, and evolve AWS infrastructure using Terraform as the primary IaC tool, including EKS clusters, RDS databases, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers.
- • Operate and optimize Kubernetes in production environments, debugging complex issues beyond basic deployments to ensure system stability and performance.
- • Lead the design, improvement, and maintenance of CI/CD systems (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar), prioritizing developer velocity and reliability across the entire engineering organization.
- • Establish and enforce observability standards using Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, and Cronitor to create actionable, low-noise alerting that surfaces true incidents, not false positives.
- • Lead or actively participate in incident response, conduct thorough post-mortems, and implement systemic changes to prevent recurrence of failures.
- • Serve as a trusted resource for engineers across local, staging, and production environments, unblocking them quickly without acting as a gatekeeper to infrastructure.
- • Shape platform strategy by contributing to long-term architectural decisions that define how Babylist’s infrastructure evolves over the next several years.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams to align infrastructure capabilities with evolving product needs in health, media, mobile, and emerging surfaces.
- • Embed AI tools into daily workflows to accelerate problem-solving, explore architectural tradeoffs, pressure-test designs, and automate routine tasks—freeing time for high-impact engineering judgment.
- • Maintain and improve developer tooling, ensuring seamless experiences for engineers building on the platform while upholding high standards for test coverage, architecture, and code quality.
- • Drive cultural adoption of reliability best practices across engineering teams, socializing standards for monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure ownership.
- • Balance operational excellence with innovation, evolving systems proactively rather than maintaining them reactively, and treating project failure as a learning opportunity—not personal failure.
- • Support Babylist’s mission by ensuring the reliability of platforms that serve millions of expecting and new families during critical life moments, making infrastructure work deeply meaningful.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep hands-on Terraform expertise—owning IaC, not just contributing to it
- • Proven AWS experience at scale—including EKS, RDS, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers
- • Experienced operating Kubernetes in production—debugged complex, non-trivial issues
- • Comfortable designing and improving CI/CD systems—CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar
- • Strong observability instincts—experience with Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, Cronitor
- • Experienced with on-call and incident management—run post-mortems and implemented lasting fixes
