- • Own the infrastructure and reliability practices supporting 9 million+ users and all engineering teams at Babylist, ensuring systems are scalable, performant, and resilient.
- • Design, implement, and evolve AWS infrastructure using Terraform as the primary IaC tool, managing EKS clusters, RDS databases, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers with deep operational expertise.
- • Lead the reliability and efficiency of CI/CD systems (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar), ensuring fast, secure, and stable deployments for the entire engineering organization.
- • Establish and enforce observability standards using Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, and Cronitor to create actionable alerts that reduce noise and improve incident response quality.
- • Lead or actively participate in incident response, conduct post-mortems, and drive systemic changes to prevent recurrence of failures.
- • Serve as a trusted resource for engineers across local, staging, and production environments, unblocking them quickly without acting as a gatekeeper.
- • Shape the long-term platform strategy by contributing to architectural decisions that influence how Babylist’s infrastructure evolves over the next several years.
- • Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to accelerate problem-solving, generate routine code, and focus human judgment on high-impact decisions — using AI as naturally as an IDE or version control.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams to align infrastructure improvements with product goals and customer needs.
- • Maintain and improve developer tooling and environment consistency to enhance productivity and reduce onboarding friction across engineering teams.
- • Build and sustain a culture of ownership, where reliability is a shared responsibility and failure is treated as a learning opportunity, not a personal shortcoming.
- • Support the evolution of Babylist’s platform as it expands beyond e-commerce into health, media, mobile, and new product surfaces with increasing complexity and scale.
- • Ensure infrastructure decisions are guided by deep operational experience, not theoretical knowledge — having debugged production Kubernetes issues, resolved CI/CD bottlenecks, and optimized cloud costs at scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep hands-on Terraform expertise — you own IaC, not just contribute to it
- • Proven AWS experience at scale — EKS, RDS, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, load balancers — you know the gotchas
- • Experienced operating Kubernetes in production — you've debugged the hard stuff, not just deployed the easy stuff
- • Comfortable designing and improving CI/CD systems — CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar; you care about developer velocity, not just pipeline uptime
- • Strong observability instincts — Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, Cronitor — you build alerting that's actionable, not noisy
- • Experienced with on-call and incident management — you've run the post-mortems and actually changed things afterward
