• As a Staff Full Stack Engineer in our Paris office, you will be an integral part of a small, high-performing engineering and product team. Your role will be pivotal in scaling our platform and expanding our global impact. From day one, you will collaborate closely with the founding team, contributing to product vision and shaping our technical architecture. This is a unique opportunity to build technology that directly addresses the challenges faced by businesses in emerging markets, particularly in Africa.
• You will be deeply involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from initial ideation and user interface design to backend logic implementation, deployment, and post-launch feedback analysis. This end-to-end ownership requires a blend of technical expertise, product thinking, and strong communication skills. You will define and manage delivery milestones, ensuring seamless alignment between engineering efforts and product priorities, and will be responsible for communicating new features both internally and externally, gathering crucial feedback before implementation and clearly explaining them upon launch.
• On the technical front, you will focus on building intuitive and high-performance web interfaces tailored for business owners in Africa. A critical aspect of your work will involve implementing robust IT security and data protection best practices within a regulated financial environment. You will proactively drive architectural decisions, focusing on enhancing the scalability, observability, and modularity of our codebase. Championing code quality through comprehensive testing, thorough documentation, and rigorous code reviews will be a cornerstone of your contribution, ensuring the reliability and maintainability of our platform.
• Operationally, you will identify and implement opportunities for internal process automation, enhancing our tech best practices to improve overall output and efficiency. This includes confidently handling production incidents, ensuring the stability and uptime of our services. Your role extends to mentoring junior engineers, fostering their professional growth through pair programming, constructive code reviews, and consistent feedback, thereby building a stronger, more capable engineering team.
• You will represent the engineering team in cross-functional discussions with departments such as Finance, Operations, and Senior Leadership, translating complex business goals into actionable technical plans. You will also play a key role in setting and upholding team standards for communication, collaboration, and technical excellence, contributing to a positive and productive work environment. Your empathy and curiosity will be essential in understanding customer needs and building solutions that balance impact, effort, and user delight.

• Projects you might contribute to include developing automated payouts and AI invoice approval systems, integrating with the Swift network and global banking partners for onboarding and payment automation, building a WhatsApp bot for customer quote generation, creating a self-serve onboarding flow for KYC document collection, implementing asynchronous workers for OCR invoice processing, and developing internal tooling to manage millions of dollars in transactions. 🎯 Requirements

• A strong product mindset with a deep understanding of customer needs, business objectives, and the long-term impact of technical decisions.
• Proven experience in full-stack web development, with a solid grasp of both frontend (React, NextJS) and backend (NodeJS, Express) best practices, primarily using JavaScript technologies (TypeScript).
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, VC-backed startup environment, with a demonstrated ability to build and ship products used by real customers and navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas, designs, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A genuine passion for Capi's mission to solve critical problems for African businesses and a commitment to making a positive impact.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Paris, France.
