This is a unique opportunity to build and own a greenfield product from its inception, setting the technical direction and establishing best practices for a critical component of our platform.
• • As the Staff Full Stack Engineer for our web application, you will be entrusted with end-to-end ownership. This encompasses the entire lifecycle of the application, from initial architecture and implementation to ensuring its ongoing quality, performance, and operational stability. You will be instrumental in translating complex core platform capabilities into a user-friendly, reliable, and trustworthy product that our clients can depend on.
• • You will lead the incremental delivery of features for this new product. This involves not just building, but also strategically shaping milestones and thoughtfully sequencing work into manageable, shippable slices. This agile approach will ensure rapid iteration and continuous value delivery to our users.
• • A significant part of your role will involve building core user interface (UI) flows. These flows will enable users to interact seamlessly with our advanced exploration outputs. This includes developing sophisticated data-heavy views that present complex geological datasets in an understandable and actionable manner, as well as integrating and optimizing 3D visualizations of these datasets.
• • You will be responsible for designing clean, robust, and well-defined interfaces to our backend services. This includes architecting APIs, managing authentication and permissions, establishing clear data contracts, implementing effective error handling strategies, and ensuring proper versioning for future evolution.
• • Building resilient, fault-tolerant systems is paramount. You will design and implement solutions that can withstand failures and maintain high availability across both the frontend and backend, with a clear understanding of operational ownership and responsibilities.
• • You will be the guardian of software development standards for the web app. This includes defining and enforcing high standards for code quality, establishing a comprehensive testing strategy (unit, integration, and end-to-end), implementing rigorous code review processes, ensuring disciplined release management, and maintaining thorough documentation.
• • You will design and evolve data storage patterns, whether relational or NoSQL, making principled decisions about schema design, managing migrations effectively, and implementing integrity constraints where necessary to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• • Implementing comprehensive automated tests is crucial for ensuring reliability. You will write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for critical user paths and system functionalities.
• • Proactive monitoring and alerting are key to maintaining uptime. You will configure and manage monitoring tools and alerting systems to detect and address downtime and performance degradation before they impact users.
• • Collaboration and user focus are essential. You will engage directly with stakeholders and end-users to deeply understand their needs, inform product requirements, validate usability through user testing, and ultimately drive adoption of the web application.
• • While you are not expected to be a dedicated UI/UX designer, you will possess strong product taste and a keen eye for user experience. You will actively push for a high bar in usability and design, collaborating with design support when needed to achieve exceptional results.
