- • Design, build, and maintain high-performance Java-based systems that power KAYAK’s global travel search and booking engine, integrating with over 200 travel partners and 550 airlines.
- • Optimize core search and booking logic to meet the demands of KAYAK’s largest corporate clients as part of the KAYAK for Business (K4B) initiative.
- • Develop and sustain robust integrations with third-party APIs from airlines, hotels, and car rental providers, ensuring reliability and scalability across high-traffic systems.
- • Take full ownership of engineering initiatives from concept through deployment, ensuring code quality, performance, and maintainability meet enterprise standards.
- • Participate in architectural reviews and code reviews to ensure the K4B platform remains modular, reusable, and aligned with KAYAK’s expanding enterprise footprint.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that enhance the corporate travel experience, including identity and HR system integrations.
- • Work from the Berlin office at least three days per week, contributing to team cohesion and in-person collaboration while maintaining flexibility for remote work up to 20 days per year.
- • Contribute to the evolution of KAYAK’s technology stack by applying best practices in Spring/Spring Boot, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and NoSQL systems (Redis).
- • Implement and improve B2B integrations using standards such as SCIM, SAML/OAuth, and SSO to connect HRIS/IDP platforms like Workday, Okta, and Active Directory with product services.
- • Leverage domain knowledge of airline distribution systems (GDS: Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport) and NDC standards to enhance booking accuracy and system interoperability.
- • Drive engineering excellence by mentoring junior engineers, promoting clean architecture, and advocating for scalable, testable, and observable code.
- • Maintain a strong focus on system reliability and performance under high query volumes, ensuring seamless experiences for millions of daily users.
- • Engage in continuous learning through access to thousands of on-demand e-learnings, leadership development programs, and Development Dollars for personal growth.
- • Participate in company-wide initiatives including No Meeting Fridays, monthly social events, Thursday happy hours, and sports teams to foster team culture.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- • 7+ years of experience in Java
- • Hands-on experience with the Spring ecosystem (Spring/Spring Boot) and working knowledge of relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis)
- • Strong English communication skills
- • Ability to design and implement engineering initiatives with minimal guidance
- • Prior experience in the travel domain — familiarity with airline distribution and standards (GDS such as Amadeus/Sabre/Travelport, NDC) and their integration with booking/reservation systems
