  • • Serve as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer within the AI team to design, build, and deploy scalable machine learning and generative AI solutions that drive strategic business outcomes for dealers, consumers, and internal teams.
  • • Partner with engineering, product, legal, and business stakeholders to translate company-wide strategic goals into actionable ML/AI roadmaps and quarterly execution plans.
  • • Apply advanced machine learning techniques including large language models (LLMs), deep learning, graph neural networks, reinforcement learning, causal inference, and recommendation systems to solve complex organizational challenges.
  • • Architect and implement enterprise-grade generative AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex to orchestrate multi-agent workflows involving retrieval augmentation, data operations, and compliance verification.
  • • Engineer robust Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines incorporating hybrid retrieval, reranking, query expansion, and contextual compression to enhance LLM accuracy and relevance.
  • • Implement parameter-efficient fine-tuning strategies (LoRA, QLoRA, PEFT) to adapt foundation models to domain-specific use cases while optimizing for inference cost and latency.
  • • Design intelligent routing and orchestration systems to manage conversation state across multiple specialized AI agents, ensuring seamless transitions between system capabilities.
  • • Build evaluation frameworks to measure LLM performance across factuality, coherence, task completion, and alignment with business objectives.
  • • Integrate LLM-powered solutions with existing enterprise architecture while ensuring compliance with data security policies, authentication mechanisms, and transaction safety requirements.
  • • Mentor and guide a team of Machine Learning Engineers on design principles, coding standards, and adoption of AI productivity tools.
  • • Lead the development of personalized recommendation systems using deep learning and Bayesian contextual multi-armed bandits to optimize user experiences across digital surfaces.
  • • Apply machine learning models such as XGBoost and Causal Meta-Learner-based models to proactively guide business teams with data-driven insights and causality analysis.
  • • Collaborate with engineering partners to build and maintain ML and Gen-AI platforms, including inference pipelines for diverse model types.
  • • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency by troubleshooting complex technical issues and conducting cross-team architectural reviews.
  • • Maintain production-grade ML/LLM operations with focus on versioning, automation, observability, automated training, and monitoring.
  • • Design and implement batch and streaming microservices exposed via gRPC and/or GraphQL endpoints to support real-time ML inference and data processing.
  • • Utilize Databricks MLflow for ML lifecycle management, model versioning, and Databricks Model Serving for production deployments.
  • • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, customer empathy, one-team collaboration, and owner’s mindset across all AI initiatives.
  • • Remain compliant with company policies, legal guidelines, and regulatory requirements in all ML/AI development and deployment activities.
  • • Occasional travel to the Southfield, Michigan office may be required, though the role is primarily remote with option to work from the office if desired.

🎯 Requirements

  • • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a relevant technical field with 5+ years of experience OR MS with 8+ years of experience in machine learning and software engineering
  • • 6+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML models including LLMs, deep learning, reinforcement learning, recommendation systems, and causal inference
  • • 4+ years of experience building and deploying generative AI applications, including multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, and parameter-efficient fine-tuning techniques
  • • Experience applying agentic AI to design and implement scalable multi-agent systems
  • • Strong problem-solving skills with a bias for action
