📋 Description

• • Design, review, and verify robust security architecture across Kraken’s heterogeneous crypto infrastructure, including web3 systems, Rust-based applications, and next-generation AI products.
• • Conduct in-depth security assessments and audits of existing systems, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending actionable, practical improvements tailored to crypto-specific threats.
• • Serve as a hands-on security consultant embedded within engineering teams, actively participating in development cycles rather than providing only high-level guidance.
• • Collaborate across global, remote teams to ensure secure operational practices are integrated into blockchain product development, from core infrastructure to user-facing applications like Kraken Pro, Wallet, and Futures.
• • Stay current with evolving blockchain security trends, emerging threats, and mitigation techniques specific to decentralized systems, smart contracts, and cryptographic implementations.
• • Apply expertise in application security to test and harden diverse platforms, including web applications, APIs, and distributed systems operating at scale in a 24/7 crypto trading environment.
• • Leverage security frameworks such as OWASP and NIST to inform architecture decisions and ensure compliance with industry best practices in a regulated financial technology context.
• • Translate complex security requirements into clear technical specifications and threat models that engineering teams can implement without compromising product velocity or user experience.
• • Engage in proactive threat modeling and risk analysis for new product initiatives, particularly those involving cryptocurrency custody, multi-signature systems, or decentralized finance (DeFi) integrations.
• • Provide security expertise during incident response scenarios, helping to contain, investigate, and remediate security events with minimal disruption to platform integrity or customer trust.
• • Work in a small, highly technical team within Kraken Security Labs, maintaining a culture of deep technical rigor, peer collaboration, and continuous learning.
• • Communicate security risks and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across product, engineering, and compliance functions.
• • Contribute to the development of internal security tools, automation scripts, and policies that enhance Kraken’s overall security posture while aligning with its mission of financial inclusion.
• • Maintain firsthand familiarity with Kraken’s product suite, including Kraken Pro, Desktop, Wallet, and Futures, to understand security implications from the end-user perspective.
• • Participate in code reviews and infrastructure design sessions with engineering teams to embed security-by-design principles into the earliest stages of development.
• • Support the onboarding and mentorship of junior security engineers and cross-functional team members in secure development practices specific to crypto environments.
