  • • As a Staff Software Engineer at Vetcove, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of veterinary software and enhancing the pet parent healthcare experience. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to undertake some of the most significant work of your career, taking direct ownership of major product areas. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of these features, from initial design and architectural planning through to robust development and continuous improvement.
  • • The systems you architect and build will manage substantial financial transactions, potentially billions of dollars annually, and will empower veterinary clinics to dedicate more of their valuable time to patient care rather than getting bogged down in logistical complexities. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in an industry that directly impacts the health and well-being of millions of animals.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend beyond just coding; you will be deeply involved in strategic decision-making, influencing what Vetcove builds next, how it functions, and ensuring its seamless integration into the daily workflows of veterinary professionals. If you are driven by solving complex technical challenges and creating impactful tools that matter, this role is an exceptional fit.
  • • You will contribute to a fast-moving team that is tackling significant challenges within a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Vetcove's platform is designed to support every facet of veterinary clinic operations, encompassing everything from electronic medical records to sophisticated purchasing workflows. However, our mission transcends mere software development; we are actively redefining industry operations to foster greater efficiency and a more humane approach to animal care.
  • • Engineers at Vetcove operate with a full-stack perspective, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire platform. This role provides ample opportunity to collaborate closely with end-users, directly influence the product roadmap, and effect meaningful change within an industry that touches the lives of countless animals and their dedicated caregivers.
  • • Operating within a fully remote environment, you will benefit from the flexibility to optimize your work-life balance while remaining an integral and highly connected member of a dynamic, collaborative team.
  • • Key responsibilities include leading the design, architecture, and successful delivery of intricate product initiatives that span both web and mobile platforms. You will be instrumental in building and enhancing applications developed with React and React Native, which are utilized daily by tens of thousands of veterinary professionals and industry partners.
  • • You will play a crucial role in establishing and upholding high engineering standards, driving improvements in code quality, and ensuring comprehensive test coverage across the entire codebase. This includes developing scalable components, reusable shared libraries, and robust architectural patterns that significantly enhance team-wide productivity and maintainability.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, providing them with expert technical guidance, and influencing the overall engineering direction across multiple development teams. You will also partner closely with our CTO, engineering leadership, and various cross-functional stakeholders to collaboratively define and execute high-impact solutions that align with Vetcove's strategic objectives.
  • • Furthermore, you will be responsible for designing features and data models with meticulous attention to accuracy, security, and performance. This includes optimizing database queries and API interactions to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability. You will also be tasked with troubleshooting complex issues that may arise across the entire technology stack and leading initiatives aimed at enhancing overall system performance and reliability.
  • • The role demands a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical debt, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the engineering team.
