- • Own the long-term technical vision and strategy for major platform components, anticipating scale, security, and product needs one year or more ahead.
- • Design and champion new system architectures focused on clear, stable interfaces and domain decoupling to accelerate velocity across multiple engineering teams.
- • Establish and improve engineering excellence standards for code quality, documentation, performance, reliability, and security across the organization.
- • Proactively identify, define, and lead complex, ambiguous, high-risk technical programs requiring coordination across 2–3 engineering teams, such as major platform refactors or organizational reliability initiatives.
- • Make pragmatic technical trade-offs that balance long-term system health with timely delivery against business objectives.
- • Deliver technically deep, cross-cutting software solutions with primary focus on back-end systems while maintaining full-stack perspective to ensure end-to-end integration.
- • Drive deep-dive root cause analyses (RCA) for critical, cross-domain production issues and transform immediate crises into prioritized, preventive engineering work.
- • Mentor and coach Senior and Mid-Level engineers across the organization to elevate their technical capabilities and increase overall engineering department efficiency and quality.
- • Influence and hold teams accountable for higher standards in reliability, performance, and security without direct authority, leveraging technical credibility and communication.
- • Work alongside physical robotics products with dedicated demo and testing cells to validate software solutions on real hardware daily.
- • Collaborate in a modern office space featuring open team areas for problem-solving and quiet zones for deep work.
- • Utilize customizable, ergonomic workstations designed for comfort and productivity.
- • Participate in daily catered lunches, fully stocked kitchens with snacks and beverages, and regular team events.
- • Operate with complete independence across domains, demonstrating self-driven initiative and resourcefulness in ambiguous, high-leverage engineering challenges.
- • Communicate complex technical risks and strategies clearly to non-technical leadership through exceptional written and verbal skills.
- • Reduce complexity and improve operational simplicity by proactively identifying and addressing organizational-level technical risks before they escalate.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of leading large-scale, complex projects across multiple engineering teams.
- • At least 1 year of experience as a Staff Engineer in a large software organization.
- • Deep expertise in architecting, developing, and operating distributed, highly-reliable, and scalable systems.
- • Proven ability to influence technical direction without direct authority and partner effectively with product management, hardware engineering, and executive leadership.
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- • Fluency in core stack: React, Typescript, Node.js, Python, C++, Kubernetes (preferred).

- • Base salary range of $215,000 to $250,000 depending on experience.
