Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design, develop, and maintain containerized microservices that emulate offensive cyber attacks and user personas within SimSpace’s cyber range simulation environment, ensuring scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.
- • Own end-to-end technical projects from requirements gathering and architecture design through deployment, defining scope, identifying risks, and aligning stakeholders across teams.
- • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers by promoting coding best practices, testing methodologies, and architectural design principles to raise the team’s overall engineering bar.
- • Define and evangelize technical architecture and system design through documentation, design reviews, and team forums to ensure knowledge sharing and alignment across the organization.
- • Collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers to create user-centered, technically robust solutions that align with business priorities and customer needs.
- • Proactively surface technical tradeoffs and their business implications to non-technical stakeholders to inform decision-making.
- • Ensure the AUE team’s technical decisions, interfaces, and delivery commitments reflect the needs of the broader organization, measuring success by cross-functional outcomes, not just team output.
- • Partner with other engineering teams as both a consumer and provider of APIs and services, treating them as customers with defined SLAs and feedback loops to optimize end-to-end product experience.
- • Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner teams by proactively communicating changes, soliciting feedback on interfaces, and ensuring reliability as a high-trust dependency.
- • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to company standards and security requirements.
- • Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and observability strategies to maintain high system uptime and enable rapid response to incidents.
- • Integrate security and compliance controls into the development lifecycle to ensure services meet regulatory and operational standards.
- • Identify gaps in tooling, processes, or architecture before they become critical issues and drive initiatives to address them proactively.
- • Operate with high autonomy in ambiguous environments, defining solutions to complex problems and influencing technical direction beyond the immediate team.
- • Apply expertise in event-driven messaging systems, microservices, and containerization to deliver core emulation services used by allied governments, militaries, and enterprises worldwide.
- • Contribute directly to code, design, and architecture while simultaneously guiding team members and shaping engineering culture.
- • Maintain deep understanding of offensive security methods, tactics, and networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, and routing protocols to ensure emulation fidelity.
- • Embody a Human Centered philosophy by fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and psychological safety within the team and across departments.
- • Participate in internal and external learning platforms, cyber conferences, and industry events to support ongoing professional growth.
- • Deliver iterative, high-quality, well-tested code with awareness of scalability, reusability, and realistic trade-offs in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- • Think in systems, considering how technical decisions impact teams and services beyond the AUE team’s scope.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development with proven skills in building large-scale, distributed systems and operating as a technical lead or Staff-level engineer.
- • Expertise in an OOP-based language such as Java or Kotlin, with demonstrable knowledge of API design, integration, and best practices.
- • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
- • Proven experience with unit testing, integration testing, and deploying services in Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform.
- • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and operate fault-tolerant systems, including requirements gathering, risk identification, and project sequencing.
- • Strong communication skills to present and articulate designs to technical and non-technical audiences, including leading architecture reviews and influencing technical direction.
- • Understanding of offensive security methods and tactics.
- • Knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, and routing protocols.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Base salary range of $185,000 – $260,000 with opportunity for annual bonuses tied to company performance and individual contributions.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits starting on day one.
- • Access to company-paid counseling, coaching, and mental health resources through Spring Health.
- • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.
- • Paid parental leave plans.
- • Equity stock options at hire with annual performance-based grants.
- • $1,500–$3,500 referral bonuses for qualified hires.
- • Peloton Interactive Wellness Program with subsidized memberships and equipment discounts.
- • LinkedIn Learning membership for professional development.
- • Monthly reimbursements for team social connections through SocialSpace Community.
- • Legal plan coverage, pet insurance, and wellness reimbursements.
- • Semi-flexible hours with expectation to overlap core team hours for collaboration and meetings.
