📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer, Backend - Growth at Airwallex, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building scalable backend systems that power user acquisition and global market expansion for a leading unified payments and financial platform serving over 200,000 businesses worldwide.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include architecting and developing microservices in Java/Kotlin, building data pipelines and analytics platforms to support data-driven decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Frontend, Product, Design, Marketing) to translate business needs into technical solutions, developing services for A/B testing and feature toggles, and ensuring security and compliance in all systems.
• You will join Airwallex’s Growth Team, which sits at the heart of the company’s mission to drive user acquisition and strategic market expansion through experimentation, rapid iteration, and high-impact technical solutions, working alongside over 2,000 innovators across 26 global offices in a company valued at US$8 billion.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures (GCP/AWS), event-driven design, and observability while mentoring peers, influencing technical standards, and contributing directly to products used by global brands like Brex, Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or engineering-related field
• 5+ years of experience in modern engineering practices with focus on continuous integration and quality engineering
• Strong computer science fundamentals and solid understanding of OOP concepts
• Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven architectures
• Deep experience with high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus
