- • As a Staff Software Engineer on Datadog’s Cloud Networks team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and operating the production network infrastructure that underpins Datadog’s entire platform across multi-cloud environments including AWS, GCP, Azure, and beyond. Your work will directly impact the scalability, reliability, and performance of services used by engineers and customers worldwide, making this a high-impact role where technical excellence translates into tangible business value.
- • Day to day, you will design and evolve cloud network infrastructure across multiple regions and cloud providers, own end-to-end connectivity between clouds, customers, and internal developers, set technical direction for expanding network capabilities while maintaining stability, improve cross-site and cross-region connectivity patterns to support platform growth, lead deep troubleshooting of latency and connectivity issues — including escalations from customer support — and identify and deliver network-related efficiency and cost-saving opportunities that enhance business health.
- • You will join a team of skilled engineers dedicated to solving complex networking challenges at scale, operating within Datadog’s hybrid workplace model that values collaboration, innovation, and work-life harmony. The Cloud Networks team is foundational to Datadog’s mission, ensuring that the platform remains resilient and performant as it scales globally.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in large-scale network architecture, gain influence in shaping multi-cloud networking strategy, strengthen your ability to lead cross-functional and geographically distributed teams through ambiguous problems, and grow your impact as a technical leader who bridges infrastructure software and production operations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep networking expertise with substantial experience designing and evolving large-scale networks beyond application-level, including interconnected environments across on-prem and/or cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- • Strong software development skills, with comfort operating as a developer in a networking-heavy domain, including experience building and operating production infrastructure.
- • Proven ability to own ambiguous problems, set technical direction, and drive cross-team collaboration, especially across distributed teams and time zones, with practical experience in incident response and on-call ownership.
