• Join WorkWhile as a Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack, and play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the frontline work landscape. • This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise and a strong product-minded approach. You will be instrumental in shaping our product roadmap, translating ambiguous business needs into robust, scalable technical solutions. Your work will span the entire stack, requiring you to make critical decisions about system design, user experience, and delivery speed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• You will take ownership of significant product initiatives, driving them from initial product definition and system architecture through to implementation, launch, and continuous improvement. This includes collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ensure we are building the right products and building them well.
• A core aspect of this position is to act as a technical leader and a force multiplier for the team. This involves not only writing high-quality code but also actively participating in design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and proactively unblocking your colleagues. Your contributions will directly influence the technical direction and elevate the overall engineering craft across the entire stack.
• We are seeking an engineer who thrives on tackling challenging problems and is comfortable navigating ambiguity. You will be expected to frame complex issues, propose well-reasoned technical options, and guide the team toward pragmatic and effective solutions that balance user needs with technical feasibility and speed of delivery.

This could involve developing new AI-driven matching algorithms, improving the user experience for shift selection, building out financial tools for same-day pay, or enhancing our telehealth and upskilling offerings.
• You will be a key contributor to architectural decisions, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable as WorkWhile continues its rapid growth. This includes evaluating new technologies, establishing best practices, and championing a culture of technical excellence.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience building and owning complex, user-facing product systems end-to-end, demonstrating depth in either frontend (JavaScript, React, React Native) or backend (Python).
• Strong working fluency across the full stack, with the proven ability to lead product work and make significant contributions beyond your primary area of expertise.
• A deeply product-minded approach to engineering, with a genuine passion for user outcomes and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, framing problems, proposing well-reasoned options, and guiding teams toward pragmatic and effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence technical and product direction across various disciplines.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and a track record of raising team-wide technical quality and best practices (direct people management experience is not a requirement).
