📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer I on the Tableflow team at Confluent, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the next generation of storage solutions for Kora, transforming it into a true multi-modal storage engine that enables seamless consumption of streaming data as both tables and streams.
• Day to day, you will design and implement innovative strategies for table schematization, materialization, and compaction at massive scale, while building and maintaining multi-tenant, highly available infrastructure for background computational tasks that power long-term storage.
• You will join a team of passionate engineers focused on solving complex distributed storage systems and infrastructure problems, working within Confluent’s mission to put data in motion and enable real-time, intelligent applications across industries.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and open-source data technologies, while influencing technical direction and collaborating across product, design, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable storage solutions at global scale.

🎯 Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders at all levels
• Familiarity with or experience contributing to Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Flink
• Experience or knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
