📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer on the Lending team at Airwallex, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and implementing large-scale, secure, and scalable systems for the company’s lending platform, enabling fast, seamless, and compliant credit experiences for enterprise clients and their users while laying the technical foundation for future expansion into new financing products.
• Day to day, you will design, develop, and maintain robust services powering lending with a focus on credit products; build and maintain secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs for embedding credit products; lead design reviews and advise on systems architecture; mentor engineers to uphold high standards of code quality and technical excellence; champion resilient, distributed systems design and best practices for global enterprise scale reliability and performance; collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful lending solutions; promote robust automated testing, code review, and monitoring practices; and stay on top of industry trends to drive improvements to platform architecture, engineering practices, and delivery efficiency.
• The Singapore-based Lending Engineering team owns the design, delivery, and scaling of Airwallex’s credit product portfolio for global enterprise clients, working within a unified payments and financial platform that empowers over 200,000 businesses worldwide, including Brex, Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN, with fully integrated solutions for business accounts, payments, spend management, treasury, and embedded finance at global scale.
• In this role, you will directly influence the architecture, reliability, and ongoing evolution of the next-generation embedded lending platform, grow your career by tackling complex, high-visibility problems with exceptional teammates, and contribute to building the future of global banking while working with founder-like energy, real impact, accelerated learning, and true ownership in a mission-driven environment that values moving fast with good judgment, digging deep with curiosity, and making decisions from first principles.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, continuous integration, and quality engineering
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role mentoring engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy
• Strong computer science foundation and object-oriented programming skills with proven experience building backend systems, primarily using Java or Kotlin and the Spring / Spring Boot framework
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs with familiarity in modern API design principles and tools
• Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures in production environments
• Proven track record designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems at scale
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus
