- • Own and lead the technical direction of Harvey in Word, a flagship Microsoft Office Add-in built on OfficeJS, integrating AI-powered legal drafting, agentic editing, and playbook automation directly into Microsoft Word.
- • Design and implement sophisticated document manipulation features using the OfficeJS API, including real-time redlining, AI-assisted drafting, and automated playbook reviews within the Word environment.
- • Architect scalable, maintainable solutions that address the unique constraints of the Office Add-in environment across Windows, Mac, and web platforms, ensuring consistent performance and reliability.
- • Build polished, high-performance user interfaces with crisp interactions, resilient error handling, and seamless integration of streaming AI results and tool-calling workflows.
- • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to define APIs and user experiences for AI-native features that operate within the constraints of Microsoft Word.
- • Navigate Office Add-in requirement sets, versioning, manifest configuration, and cross-platform compatibility to ensure broad, reliable support across Microsoft 365 environments.
- • Contribute to the development of Harvey in Outlook and help shape the next generation of agentic AI interfaces across the Microsoft 365 suite, including potential integrations with Teams and SharePoint.
- • Mentor junior engineers, drive technical decision-making, and elevate team standards for code quality, architecture, and developer experience.
- • Ensure all Office Add-in products adhere to Microsoft’s official guidelines and successfully navigate the AppSource submission process for enterprise distribution.
- • Deliver production-grade software with strong attention to detail, focusing on user experience, performance optimization, and long-term maintainability in a complex, multi-platform environment.
- • Operate within a hybrid in-person model based in New York, NY, with close collaboration among engineering, product, and design teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in Office Add-in development using OfficeJS
- • Experience building and shipping a production Office Add-in product, ideally one used at enterprise scale
- • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- • Deep understanding of Office Add-in architecture, requirement sets, manifest configuration, and cross-platform considerations
- • Experience with React or similar modern frontend frameworks
- • Track record of shipping highly intuitive products with strong attention to detail
