- • As a Staff Software Engineer in Order Management at Stitch Fix, you will provide technical leadership for the systems powering checkout, order lifecycle, fulfillment orchestration, and third-party integrations, ensuring reliability and scalability under real-world conditions like peak traffic and partner outages.
- • You will design and build resilient distributed systems, lead technical decisions, guide incident response, establish architectural patterns for integrations, and drive domain-wide initiatives from problem framing through production rollout and long-term hardening.
- • You will partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and senior engineers across teams to define technical strategy, ensure operational excellence, and uphold standards for testing, release safety, on-call readiness, and SLIs/SLOs.
- • You will mentor and coach engineers, produce technical designs and RFCs, influence roadmap planning, and raise the bar for system design, operational thinking, and technical decision-making across the organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems
- • Strong software engineering experience across one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Golang, Ruby on Rails)
- • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, transactional semantics, performance tuning, and operational concerns
- • Hands-on experience with cloud-hosted systems (AWS, GCP, Azure) and ability to reason about capacity, failure scenarios, and operational behavior
- • Proven ability to design and operate business-critical, stateful systems with high availability and strict correctness requirements
