Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Architect a scalable, high-fidelity testing infrastructure to enable continuous validation across CoMind’s full software stack, including embedded real-time systems, cloud-side data pipelines, and GUI applications.
- • Champion 'design for testability' across the engineering stack by influencing system architecture to ensure safety and performance requirements are verifiable by design, aligning with medical device standards.
- • Define the end-to-end verification and validation (V&V) strategy for the product lifecycle, quantitatively mapping software verification evidence directly to system-level safety risks as defined by ISO 14971.
- • Design and implement 'compliance-as-code' workflows that integrate regulatory risk controls directly into the CI/CD pipeline to automate evidence generation for FDA, MHRA, and other regulatory submissions.
- • Serve as the technical authority for software quality, ensuring all software meets stringent IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 standards through sustainable, automated, and auditable processes.
- • Lead the development of AI-augmented test strategies, including predictive anomaly detection systems and AI-driven test generation engines that evolve with software changes and learn from past regressions.
- • Mentor software engineers and drive a 'quality-first' engineering culture through training and adoption of Test-Driven Development (TDD), static analysis, and automated quality gates.
- • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, and Software Engineering teams to embed quality as an inherent attribute of the technology, not a post-development checklist.
- • Ensure rigorous documentation management for regulatory submissions, including adherence to cybersecurity requirements such as IEC 81001-5-1 and FDA cybersecurity guidance.
- • Work within a regulated medical device environment where software must perform reliably in clinical settings, adhering to strict validation protocols and traceability requirements.
- • Embrace AI as a core part of daily work, continuously identifying new ways to leverage AI for testing, collaboration, and innovation across the software lifecycle.
- • Operate from the London (Kings Cross) office at least four days per week, with one flexible remote day per week.
- • Support the development of hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop test environments to validate system behavior under real-world clinical conditions.
- • Contribute to continuous improvement of software development and test processes to ensure quality practices scale with organizational growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years in software test engineering with proven experience architecting testing strategies for complex, regulated systems (embedded, real-time, or SaMD)
- • Deep working knowledge of IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 standards and experience designing 'compliance-as-code' workflows that automate regulatory evidence generation
- • Advanced proficiency in Python and C/C++; extensive experience building scalable test infrastructure for embedded hardware and cloud-side data pipelines
- • Demonstrated success in mentoring software engineers and driving a 'quality-first' culture through TDD, static analysis, and automated quality gates
- • Strong experience with cybersecurity requirements for medical devices (e.g., IEC 81001-5-1, FDA cybersecurity guidance) and rigorous documentation for regulatory submission
- • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks in regulated environments
🏖️ Benefits
- • Company equity plan so all employees share in the success of the company
- • Salary-sacrifice pension scheme
- • Private medical, dental and vision insurance (medical history disregarded)
- • Group life assurance at 4x annual income
- • Comprehensive mental health support, including unlimited access to 1:1 sessions with trained professionals
- • Unlimited holiday allowance (+ bank holidays) and one week of remote working per quarter
- • Lunch voucher (£10) every day for JustEat and free dinner on days requiring late work
- • Twice weekly deliveries of fresh fruit and an extensive selection of snacks and drinks
- • YuLife subscription, allowing daily steps and meditation to be turned into discounts at a range of stores
