- • Own the strategic direction and governance of Coinbase’s Strategic Intelligence program as the recognized subject-matter expert in reputational due diligence, geopolitical intelligence, and first-party diligence.
- • Lead reputational due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships, producing complex risk findings that directly inform Corporate Development and executive decision-making within defined SLAs and quality standards.
- • Deliver forward-looking geopolitical intelligence assessments that evaluate how global events and crises impact Coinbase’s offices, personnel, assets, and business strategy, and route timely findings to senior leadership, GSOC, Executive Protection, and Business Continuity teams.
- • Source, establish, and manage both open-source and closed-source intelligence streams while building and maintaining deep relationships with public and private-sector intelligence partners to proactively identify threats targeting Coinbase and the broader crypto community.
- • Design scalable, AI-enabled intelligence processes that improve program efficiency and reduce operational costs, while ensuring human-in-the-loop safeguards are maintained to preserve accuracy and accountability.
- • Define and track program metrics that communicate measurable impact to senior leadership, aligning intelligence outputs with business outcomes and risk tolerance.
- • Mentor and provide high-signal feedback to analysts, specialists, and contractors—including senior teammates—on judgment, influence, and craft, elevating standards across complex, ambiguous intelligence work.
- • Apply systems thinking to anticipate second-order impacts of geopolitical and reputational risks, designing intelligence operations for long-term resilience, scalability, and adaptability.
- • Utilize generative AI responsibly to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve output quality, while maintaining strict human oversight to ensure business-ready, actionable intelligence.
- • Serve as the directly responsible individual (DRI) for the Strategic Intelligence program, independently leading initiatives from problem identification through solution delivery while holding cross-functional partners and vendors accountable.
- • Communicate complex technical and business risks clearly and effectively to senior audiences in both written and verbal formats, ensuring stakeholders are rarely surprised by outcomes.
- • Operate within a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges" to collaborate intensively with global teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in intelligence, due diligence, geopolitical risk analysis, investigations, or related fields, with recognized expertise in at least one intelligence domain.
- • Proven track record producing investigation and geopolitical risk reports that have directly informed M&A, investment, or other business decisions at scale.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives independently from problem identification through solution delivery, owning a defined capability within a broader program while holding cross-functional partners and vendors accountable.
- • Communicates complex technical and business risks clearly to senior audiences in written and verbal formats, ensuring stakeholders are rarely surprised by outcomes.
- • Applies systems thinking to anticipate second-order impacts and designs for long-term resilience and scale across intelligence operations.
- • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
