- • Lead strategic sourcing and commercial execution for OpenAI’s ads technology stack and consumer verticals, with a focus on brand safety, measurement, attribution, fraud prevention, and invalid traffic detection technologies.
- • Own end-to-end vendor management for high-velocity, high-complexity deals including vendor strategy development, RFPs, negotiation, security and legal reviews, contracting, and go-live.
- • Partner directly with Product, Engineering, Security, Legal, Growth, and Finance teams to align vendor capabilities with product roadmaps and ensure timely, low-risk product launches.
- • Build and manage a multi-vendor ecosystem for ads technology and consumer-facing tools in regulated domains including health and personal finance applications.
- • Design and structure contracts and pricing models that enable rapid scaling, preserve optionality, and minimize long-term vendor lock-in and switching costs.
- • Coordinate and drive Security, Legal, and Privacy reviews for vendors handling sensitive data, particularly in regulated sectors such as health and financial services.
- • Manage the full vendor lifecycle: onboarding, performance monitoring, SLA enforcement, renewals, and re-competitions as OpenAI’s usage volumes and risk profiles evolve.
- • Serve as the primary commercial control plane between fast-moving product teams and external technology dependencies, balancing speed with governance, compliance, and economic discipline.
- • Evaluate pricing models, volume ramps, and vendor risk in alignment with revenue goals and product growth trajectories to optimize cost and scalability.
- • Independently drive complex negotiations and resolve cross-functional blockers to deliver outcomes that directly impact product launches and monetization.
- • Maintain commercial discipline and risk awareness while operating in ambiguous, high-stakes environments with rapidly changing priorities.
- • Ensure vendor partnerships accelerate OpenAI’s mission by enabling faster, safer, and more scalable deployment of AI-powered consumer products and advertising capabilities.
- • Act as the commercial owner for a growing portfolio of vendors critical to OpenAI’s revenue growth, user engagement, and operational resilience in the ads and consumer verticals.
- • Collaborate with the Technology Strategic Sourcing Lead (Product Ecosystem & Monetization) to align sourcing strategy with broader organizational goals and monetization objectives.
- • Maintain deep awareness of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks applicable to health, finance, identity, and payment data flows in vendor agreements.
- • Proactively identify opportunities to consolidate, optimize, or replace vendors to reduce cost, improve performance, and mitigate systemic risk across the ads and consumer tech stack.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience leading technology partnerships, sourcing, or commercial negotiations in a high-growth, product-driven environment
- • Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial, technical, and data-driven agreements with technology vendors
- • Proven track record of operating in regulated or high-risk domains (e.g., personal financial, health, payments, identity, data)
- • Strong cross-functional leadership ability to align Product, Engineering, Legal, Security, and Finance teams around complex, high-stakes decisions
- • Experience managing end-to-end vendor lifecycle processes including RFPs, contracting, SLA enforcement, and re-competitions
- • Strong analytical skills to evaluate pricing models, volume ramps, and vendor risk in the context of revenue and product growth
