- • Distro, Inc. is actively seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious Structural Steel Installers to become integral members of our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity for experienced professionals who thrive in a hands-on, project-driven environment and are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. As a Structural Steel Installer, you will play a critical role in the construction and assembly of essential infrastructure, particularly within the telecommunications and data center sectors. Your expertise will be crucial in erecting the foundational structural grids that support vital technological systems.
- • The core of this role involves the precise installation, positioning, and securement of non-welded structural steel components. This includes, but is not limited to, Unistrut or Hilti strut systems, which are fundamental for supporting cabling, equipment, and other essential infrastructure in modern facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring these components are correctly aligned, leveled, and fastened, forming the backbone of complex operational environments.
- • A key responsibility will be the meticulous interpretation of construction documentation. This includes reading and understanding blueprints, detailed shop drawings, and erection plans. The ability to translate these technical documents into practical, on-site actions is paramount to the success of each project. You will need to visualize the final structure from the plans and execute the installation accordingly, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- • You will be proficient in aligning and bolting steel components, utilizing a range of hand and power tools to achieve secure and stable connections. Furthermore, a significant aspect of the job involves performing rigging and signaling for crane operations. This requires a keen understanding of load dynamics, safe lifting practices, and clear communication with crane operators to ensure the safe and efficient movement of heavy steel elements into position.
- • The role demands a strong commitment to safety, with a requirement to strictly follow all OSHA and company safety regulations at all times. This includes conducting thorough inspections of materials and equipment before use, identifying potential hazards, and implementing preventative measures. Your proactive approach to safety will contribute to a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- • Collaboration is essential. You will work closely with fellow crew members, foremen, and project managers, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere. Effective communication and a willingness to support your team are vital for overcoming challenges and achieving project milestones efficiently and safely.
- • This position requires a significant degree of physical capability and a comfort level with working at heights. You will frequently be working in man-lifts, often at heights of 20-30 feet, and potentially higher in various commercial and industrial settings. The ability to maintain balance, work with precision in elevated positions, and manage the physical demands of the job is crucial.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring the structural integrity and proper alignment of all installed elements. This involves meticulous checks and adjustments to guarantee that the steel framework meets all engineering and safety standards before proceeding to the next phase of construction.
- • The role is inherently mobile, requiring 100% travel to job sites across the United States. Projects can vary in duration, from several weeks to several months, demanding flexibility and a commitment to being on location to see projects through to completion. Distro, Inc. understands the demands of this travel requirement and provides comprehensive support, including per diem and lodging, to ensure your comfort and well-being while away from home.
- • This is an opportunity to contribute to significant projects, gain extensive experience across diverse locations, and be a vital part of a company that values expertise, safety, and dedication. Your work will directly impact the successful construction of critical infrastructure, making this a rewarding career path for the right individual.
