- • The Summer Banding and Outreach Tech role supports Audubon Rockies’ mission by combining field-based bird conservation research with community education and outreach across Wyoming and Colorado. This position plays a vital role in collecting scientific data through bird banding and monitoring while engaging the public in environmental stewardship.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting as a bander at MAPS stations, entering field data daily, leading and supporting outreach events such as BioBlitz and educational camps, conducting point counts and nest searches, and creating social media content to document field experiences. Work occurs 3-4 days per week in the mornings, totaling 24-32 hours weekly, with additional time for data entry.
- • The Audubon Society is a nationwide nonprofit leader in bird conservation, operating across the Western Hemisphere with science-driven, community-focused initiatives. Audubon Rockies focuses on regional conservation efforts in Wyoming and Colorado, collaborating with diverse partners to protect habitats and species.
- • The role offers hands-on experience in field ornithology, environmental education, and science communication. The candidate will develop skills in bird handling, data collection, public engagement, and content creation while contributing to long-term conservation goals and building professional connections within a mission-driven organization.
