- • Vetcove is at the forefront of modernizing the veterinary industry, a sector valued at over $50 billion. We are building a comprehensive suite of platforms designed to enhance the experience for both veterinary professionals and pet parents. Our offerings include a leading procurement marketplace, a cutting-edge e-commerce platform for home delivery of pet essentials, and a next-generation practice management system. With over 25,000 hospitals across all 50 states relying on Vetcove daily, we support tens of thousands of veterinarians who provide care for millions of pets annually. Our mission-driven company, backed by Y Combinator and prominent venture investors, is seeking talented and passionate individuals to help shape the future of veterinary care. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of our rapidly growing operations, directly contributing to our ability to scale and innovate.
- • As a Tax Specialist, you will be instrumental in managing and overseeing critical tax compliance functions. Your primary responsibility will be the meticulous management of sales tax compliance, leveraging Avalara to ensure accuracy and adherence across numerous jurisdictions. This involves diligently monitoring nexus thresholds to identify where the company has a tax obligation, ensuring that correct tax rates are applied to all transactions, and accurately filing and remitting sales tax returns on a regular basis. Beyond sales tax, you will play a key role in supporting our income tax obligations by maintaining and organizing all necessary documentation for federal, state, and local income taxes. This organizational rigor is essential for smooth audits and accurate filings.
- • You will be responsible for preparing and compiling comprehensive data packages that will be provided to our external accountants and tax advisors. This collaborative effort ensures that our external partners have all the information they need to provide accurate advice and complete filings. Furthermore, you will actively support the quarterly and annual tax provision processes, which are vital for financial reporting and strategic planning. A significant aspect of this role involves assisting with tax planning strategies. This means identifying opportunities to reduce tax liabilities while strictly ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. Your insights will directly impact the company's financial health and efficiency.
- • Staying ahead of tax law changes is paramount. You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments in tax law, proactively communicating any potential impacts to leadership. This foresight allows the company to adapt its strategies and maintain compliance. To ensure all obligations are met in a timely manner, you will maintain detailed tax calendars, tracking all critical deadlines. Additionally, you will provide essential support during tax audits or in response to inquiries from tax authorities, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring all necessary information is readily available and accurate. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to multi-state tax environments and contribute to strategic tax planning initiatives within a dynamic, fast-growing company.
- • The team at Vetcove is a collaborative and forward-thinking group dedicated to improving veterinary care. We foster an environment where innovation is encouraged, and every team member's contribution is valued. You will work closely with internal accounting staff, building strong working relationships and ensuring seamless information flow. You will also collaborate with external CPAs and tax advisors, acting as a liaison and ensuring that Vetcove's tax strategies are robust and compliant. This role provides an excellent platform for professional growth, offering the chance to deepen your expertise in sales tax, income tax, and tax planning within a rapidly expanding tech company. You will gain invaluable experience in managing tax compliance for a multi-state business and contribute directly to the company's financial success and strategic objectives, all while working remotely within the USA.
- • This position offers a significant opportunity to develop your career in tax. You will gain hands-on experience with Avalara, a leading sales tax automation software, and deepen your understanding of U.S. tax regulations across various jurisdictions. The role encourages proactive engagement with tax planning, allowing you to contribute to strategic financial decisions. You will have the chance to refine your organizational and communication skills by managing complex documentation and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Successfully navigating the complexities of multi-state tax compliance and contributing to tax strategy will position you for future advancement in the field of taxation, particularly within the dynamic technology sector. The company's commitment to professional development and its fast-paced growth environment ensure continuous learning and career progression opportunities.
